My 1461 came on a strap, when purchasing the 443A do I need to buy additional spring bars (I've heard they're slightly wider in diameter I guess) or do they come with the bracelet?

If you order through an AD you should get them, but confirm directly when you order. The bracelet spring bars are actually thinner than the strap spring bars.
