I don't think I could just live with one watch but sometimes I do think It would be nice to have the Rolex Yachtmaster 2 in bi metal but it would probably just need servicing so much If I used it most days would be a nice watch though.

I was pondering this recently, and if I could trade all my pieces for one it would be an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Diver. Anyone else got a holy grail they would trade it all for?

I tried to type in an answer but couldn't because my most liked piece is not something that is expensive enough for me to trade all my watches for. I think that applies to many members here as well. If your question was, "if you could only have one watch, what would it be" or " what's the watch that you dream to have most but couldn't afford it yet", then I should be able to answer you. My answer to the first is Chronomat 01 LE and the latter will be a PP with a minute repeater complication.

I meant the post to be kind of a thinker, not really serious but to some of you it might be. Just wanted to hear a few different takes on it :)

I've seriously considered consolidating my collection down to a much smaller number on a few occasions, but the trouble is there's always something new that catches my eye. I'd never be able to get it down to just one. Never in a million years!

This is really timely for me. I'm thinking of sacrificing a large part of my collection to get either this...

Or this...

Both are theoretically within reach and i'm serious considering putting the Blackbird, Pult and a couple of others on the block for them. Just struggling to jump.

It would be great if you could get THIS 1004, Greg; beautiful piece.

The Tribute is a wonderful puece, but is it really unique enough to be THE one ?

great taste though, unsurprisingly.

I do love the new yacht master II as well. If I had an unlimited about of watch fund age that would definitely be in the rotation, as well as a yellow gold Sky-Dweller.

It's a great question. Now that I have a few watches, and will continue to add to the collection, it would be tough to go back to one, particularly as I've deliberately purchased watches to represent a different 'category' (sports vs classic etc.) and will continue to do so. I also don't really have any affordable grails so a trade-in and up wouldn't work. Having said that there's obviously nothing wrong with having one good watch...

If I had too I could probably live with two. One that's more sporty and had WR-maybe a 50 fathoms or something of that ilk, and then a grand complications of some kind for the more classic side - maybe a JLC but I'd have to think about it more.

Again a good post and some interesting responses so far.

I understand that struggle all too well. I've been meaning to sacrifice a few pieces myself but it's tough when one realizes that the collection is starting to settle down.
