OK, in true Driver8 fashion, it's time to break out the baking tins again and have another slice of humble pie!

I went past my AD again today and in the window was a number of the new models which I'd seen before - polished Blackbird, both black and white dial CM49's, SOHC, etc...... BUT there was also two Bentley GMTs - one black dial on rubber and one white dial on the bracelet. (I'd only seen one before today).

Anyway, this was the first time that I'd seen the black dial version, so I went and tried it on and I have to say........ I'm starting to like it! (OK, so the rubber looks absolutely hideous with it IMHO, but I reckon on the Speed bracelet the black dial would look great). Now whether it's just grown on me of late after seeing more pictures of it, or whether it's just that the black dial looks really good compared to other colours.... I really don't know, but my opinion of it has definitely changed. Yes, I still think the bezel is a lot thicker than the original models, but "tacky" didn't come into my head at all this time, which is weird because it was the first thing I thought of when I saw my first one! :?

It's amazing how you can get used to models over time............. Or maybe it's just me.

I agree, I'm not sure I could stand the rubber bracelet. That would be a pretty difficult look for most people to pull off. The the black dial with the speed bracelet looks great IMHO.

Well, I think that in the end of the day most of us will like most of the models. Don't you?

Driver8,

Here we go again. All you had to do was ask LING MAN and I would have told you they were great on the speed bracelet. I can remember a time when you thought the SA was Too Big. Just remember always ask LING MAN I'm one of the OLD guy's here ! Trust me Diamonds will be coming soon for you !

Yeah, yeah, laugh it up guys! I'm a big man, I can take it! :) I don't have to admit to these things in public you know, but due to my altruistic nature I'm more than prepared to admit to an ongoing development of my watch appreciation. I'm doing a service to the group here by highlighting how first impressions can be influenced by the passage of time, and.... and..... and..... oh s*d it I'll be honest, I've just changed my mind and I now like it. OK!?!?!?!?!

I've still only seen the bronze dial, and I freely admitted at the time that was likely the worst one to base an opinion on, but I dunno....

It's not going to be on my must have list, and while I can see a time when I don't think it's hideous (if not on rubber), I can't see a time when I'll prefer it over a Zenith Multicity.

Can you go that far Driver8?
