Bought my Navi World a month_ish ago and am so happy, wouldn't change it for anything! It's +6 secs everyday which I prefer rather than slow, keeps me punctual when otherwise I'd probably be running late ha!

The markers are perfect. I never thought to check at the time as I assumed they would be (price/quality expectation) but have since read plenty of others don't line up which would grate on me so I lucked out there.

Anyway, one thing has peeved me a bit:

When I was sat trying this particular one from inside the display cabinet. Whilst sold on it as it was my ideal combination of white dial on brown strap I enquired as to whether it was a 2013 model to which the lady replied yes. When looking at the serial the other day when changing the strap it's actually late 2012 making it pretty much a year old.

Would that bother anybody else?

No going back for me as this is a keeper unless for some reason I ended up flat broke with no other choice than to sell.
Just interested to read peoples thoughts on the above.

Kind regards.

Watches don't have model years, and the World hasn't changed so no big deal as far as I am concerned. All that you know is when the case was made, the watch would have been made later, then tested, then shipped to a distributor, then shipped to an AD, then sat in a case - all with delays along the way. It's not ever going to have been that much newer in perfect circumstances.

A fair point, well made. :)

As Roff said, it's the date of the case batch and not actual assembly; I'd be very pleased with that short a date / sale interval. Many 'new' watches are two or three years old.

I agree with the sentiment here. It’s as new a Navi World as you could get from that seller. I would not be concerned either.

Wear it in good health. :lingsrock:

I've just had a look at the date stamp on the Pro II bracelet of my Superocean 1736006, which reads W 09 09. I assume that means it was manufactured in September 2009. I've not removed it to see what date stamp is on the case, but I should imagine it will probably be within a month or two. The papers show that the watch was purchased on 25 August 2010, so there was almost a year between actual production and initial sale. I've no idea whether that timescale is typical, but it doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

It means that it was produced in week 9 of 09 (early March) - http://www.breitlingsource.com/articles_dating.shtml

Thanks for that clarification, Roff. It seems my watch is a little older than I thought, but the point I was trying to make perhaps now holds even more. :)

Anecdotally, date stamp on the watch case could be rather more than a month or two different from the bracelet. Only one way to find out...

But ISTR that your SO is the last of the 'old' style, that short-lived transitional model before the SO II of 2010-on. (I remember that as I have the same.) If so that was made from mid-2008 to late-2009 / maybe very early 2010, so your watch will be in that narrow window I reckon.

Yes, it's the last version of the "classic" SOs, with skeletonised numerals (other than solid 6, 9 & 12), and the arrow-shaped hour hand. I've got a Pro II Diver rubber strap for it as well, as yet unworn, so I might swap it over tomorrow and have a look at the date stamp on the case while I'm at it.

Well, I've now swapped the bracelet over for the Pro Diver II. The date stamp on the case is 3608, which I think works out to the first week of September 2008. That ties in with with the time-frame you suggested, Tom, and shows that the case was manufactured around 6 months before the bracelet. It would be another 18 months or so before the finished article found its way on to the wrist of its initial purchaser. :)
