So I thought my Omega Aqua Terra was just magnetized. I had it de magnetized and thought I was all set. The watch was about 3 seconds plus a day. I put it back on my winder and two days later it was about six or seven minutes fast. I reset the time and left it on the dresser, seems to be running fine again. It's still under warranty and I'm thinking I will send it in. Any idea as to why it's running fast on the winder? Do you think it will be noticed and fixed if sent out? I bought the watch new 9/11. Thanks for your thoughts on this.

There is no reason why it would run that much faster on a winder than on the side. Automatic reaction is that it got magnetised again, but seems less likely if it runs fine on the dresser. Try moving the winder in case there is a magnetic field there, but may be an issue with the watch that is causing it to run fast when fully wound - could be a number of different causes of that - too strong a mainspring, issues with the escapement, etc.

Thanks for the lightning fast reply. Since it's still under warranty the best move would be to send it in to Omega correct? This would be opposed to my local guy to de mag. again.

I would just make sure that it's not getting magnetised again by something around the winder, but otherwise, yes.

Thanks again for the help.

So, I dropped it off at the AD this morning for them to send it to Omega. I was told that Omega will not cover magnetism, as it is user error. I'm hoping they find an actual issue that they can fix under warranty. If it needs a full service that would be fine too!

Now the bad news, I was told to expect about 2 - 3 months turn around time.

My lovely wife says, "You may just have to wear one of your other watches." She just doesn't get it....

I hope I have it back before 2014!
