Like the topic says, what is the first Breitling you saw that make you want to buy one?

My family went to Switzerland without me when I was like 15, and my uncle came back with a Breitling Wings, two tone with a white dial, he had made for him while they were there. When he came home, he showed me, and right there is when I fell in love. For my 18th birthday, he bought me the same watch but with a black dial, and since I've been hooked. I later sold that to fund my Navitimer. Which I can honestly say I am very very sorry I sold both of those pieces, especially the Wings.

Just wanted to see if anyone else wanted to share how they fell in love with Brietlings.

BTW, I am very curious, how do some of you get to go on VIP trips to see the new and upcoming pieces and whatnot? Is it one of those things where you have to know someone to get special privileges?

I saw the superocean heritage in a GQ magazine a couple months back. I finally ended up getting one last week. Best decision I've made in a while.

The first Breitling I ever saw was in the James Bond film
"Thunderball," which I saw in 1966. I was a mere lad of 18, but
the Navitimer which one of the villians was wearing made a lasting
impression.

Of course, I was in love with Rolexes then, and remained so
for the next 35 years. It was only a few years ago, after I had sold
my two remaining Rolexes, that I bought my first Breitling, an Evo.
Magazine ads and watch tests in magazines like WatchTime
helped convince me Breitling was the watch for me. :)

Great topic!

Saw an article on Navitimers as a teenager - can't remember which magazine, but was hooked from that point on. It took a while for cash to catch up with taste though!

My experience was only a couple of years ago, but I wanted a nice watch, and I knew that Breitling was a big name. I looked around, and the Colt seemed perfect for me. The face was exactly what I wanted, and the price just happened to be one of the lowest there was. I was sold on it, and that ended up being my first B a while later.

I've been looking at Navitimers for a while, but when my buddy picked up a SA and let me where it for a while, I was sold!

Saw an Emergency in an AD in Basel, Switzerland, about 6 or 7 years ago. Couldn't afford one so started drooling over my Aerospace.

No other high quality watch looks anything like an Aerospace - very distinctive so couldn't resist it.

A year or 2 later I treated myself for my birthday. Never looked back :D

The Navitimer World took my breath away. After seeing that watch and further exploring the rest of the Breitling collection, I knew that I had to have one, two, three, ahhh, who's counting, LOL!

I might be the odd one here... (again. :) )

I first bought my coral SO because I wanted someting that really got the attention from people. I had a few watches before that, but those were mainly "streamline". The coral SO was the most attention for the money that I found.

After buying it and wearing it for a while I started browsing the Breitling website and for some reason I also stumbled over Breitlingsource. A few days after that I fell "in love" and quite quickly got a vintage one, a used Colt and a new SA.

A friend of mine had just bought a Breitling for Bentley and I was amazed. I had never heard of Breitling before and started going to a store that sold them. I picked up a catalogue and put some pictures from magazines up in my office. A year later I finally took the plunge. I bought 2 Breitling watches within a month.

You could say I'm hooked!

First Breitling was the early style Aerospace in 2 tone. I had that one a few years and always looked around for a UTC module for it to no avail so like a fool I sold it.
Afterwards, I realized that it was the most comfortable watch I ever had so I had to find another.
I recently found the Repitition Minutes with a module and this time I'm gonna hold onto it!

It was the Breitling for Bentley GT, for me. Breilting takes out an ad space in my favorite automotive magazine and when I saw that watch, I instantly wanted one, but then I found out how much it cost...

I've been a loyal Breitling fan ever since, and when I turned 18 I jumped at the opportunity to get one, and that's how I ended up with the SO. 8)

The first Breitling I ever saw was a steel Crosswind with black dial, Breitling diamond bezel that my friend has. I actually didn't care for it that much, but it did make me wonder about others. The first Breitling that actually made me WANT one was a black dial, titanium Seawolf. That model which confirmed my NEED for a Breitling was a black dial Cosmonaute on steel bracelet.
