I've heard Costco also buys watches and other jewelry from local stores that are going out of business. Sometimes its via larger lot auctions so they buy a bunch of inventory from several smaller business that go under and then its sent off to various Costco locations to sell.

I was surprised to see a Breitling watch at the Costco. I talked to the store manager to ask if they have the MontBrilliant Datora model I'm interested. He told me that Costco only bought a dozen Breitling watches and gave one to each store.

I was at a Costco in Cleveland and they had two Breitling watches there.

Two Breitling watches at Scottsdale, AZ today. Rose Gold Chronomat 44(?), Croco strap, $22,000, and Avenger steel/black/steel for $4,600 (IIRC). No one around to ask/confirm the warranty and return policies. Hard to believe lifetime return, as Costco usually (according to urban legend) jams those back to suppliers for credit + return handling charge --- a cost of doing business with the big boys.

Yes life time return as long as you did not abuse it. Costco has the best return policy in the market period. If you've dealt with them you would know, not a secret

I would only buy it from them if the protection stickers/film are on the lugs and the back case. Frankly, that counts for buying it from an AD as well.

That is a good point, the one I purchased came that way, the two that are currently on display are that way as well.

I thought it was three months return policy. Are you sure about lifetime?

Indeed. The Costco Return Policy: "We guarantee your satisfaction on every product we sell with a full refund. The following must be returned within 90 days of purchase for a refund: televisions, projectors, computers, cameras, camcorders, touch screen tablets, MP3 players and cellular phones." Watches would appear to be life time return - unless there are some specific constraints on their premium product lines.

Yes, I've dealt w/ Costco (but not as a serial returner) and was generally aware of their liberal return policy. When I said "hard to believe", I still stand by that and did not mean to say that it can't be true --- just trying to understand as as part of fully accepting. For example, do their suppliers (e.g. ADs or going-out-of-business sources) provide Costco credit for the return? Probably not. Does Costco absorb the return when that's inconsistent with their business model of getting credit from suppliers (+ return processing fee) for any/all any returns under their generous policy? Possibly, but probably not. How do they do that Breitling lifetime warranty, really? Inquiring minds want to know. Next time I'm in a Costco I'll specifically ask about the lifetime warranty for a Breitling. Stay tuned..........

I just don't see too many of the watches they sell having a high ratio of breaking. These high watches do have a great reputation. With that said, should I return mine a few years from now because it mysteriously stopped working I would bet they would absorb that loss and not even blink an eye at the cost of it.

I can't see such a big, reputable and profitable company trying to do anything shady with a returned item, watch or whatever and place their reputation at stake. I'm very comfortable saying that if Costco advertises a high end watch (or any for that matter) as new and comes with all papers, boxes and protective film then it is just that.

I have no doubt mine was, I inspected like a mad man due to my mental issues with scratches and such. I also talked to the manager prior to pulling the trigger and he assured me it has a life time warranty as long as it was not abused. Their customer service/return policies are simply amazing, I have never abused it but nice to have it.

BTW, I don't work for Costco, just saying.

Yeah I have noticed lately just about every costco I have been to, they have a breitling or 2. Also I do believe they have a lifetime return policy on the watch as long as it is not abused. BTW one time I was in line returning some stuff and I smell something fishy. No kidding. I look over and a lady was returning a package of haddock or some other white fish. It didn't appear to have been opened but it stunk and they still took it back! Now you know that fish wasn't stinky when the lady first bought it.

I purchased a Costco Breitling in a slower Cdn Market and over 6 months (since it wa put on display) it got reduced from $4999.00 to $1999.00 in $1000.00 increments. I bought it the day it got reduced to to $1999. List was $6,250.00. Watch has proven to be a great performer (well within COSC limits) and came with wrappings on watch so was in mint condition. Can't say no to that deal and it also is one of my favorites Breitlings.

No warranty, but now past the warranty period with no problems. Also Costco said lifetime return when I purchased it and even gave me a slip to that effect. So my experience has been nothing but positive. I do notice though that lately the sale prices on their higher end watches have not been as good and in fact some AD's may match or improve on the price reduction. So you have to know your prices and decide what value you place on the warranty. As Breitlings warrantys get longer their worth becomes greater as well and it may no longer be that much of an advantage to buy at the normal Costco sale price reductions.

Also just FYI, if you're an executive member, which I am as well, u get 2 percent back. I'm not going to lie. I really like Costco and if I see a steal of a price on a breitling model I want, I might get it.
