but I was having a flick through ebay and I came across an identical looking watch only the date was going on the horizontal and mine is vertical

...is this normal or is one a fake? if so I hope its not mine, is there any sure fire way of telling?

thanks
James

Both watches are real, but your date wheel is odd. The numbers should be that way up for double digit dates but rotated through 90 degrees like the second one on single digit dates. Your date font also looks a bit odd which suggests maybe a service replacement?? It may be that one year was a different date wheel, but I don't recall it.

Thanks for the info, I'm not sure if it's a replacement wheel as I haven't had it serviced yet, i got it less than a year ago but i will ask when i bring it into my local dealer.

My Chrono Shark Quartz, which pre-dated the Colt, doesn't have the single digits turned through 90 degrees so maybe the early Colts didn't.

As for being real, no fakes have the sec/min large chrono hands used in this watch so you're fine.
