Does he like minimalistic looks? If so go for non chrono: less clutter, more elegance. If he's an engineer, he might love the chrono though, more "gadgetty".
Just a quick word of advice, if I may. I have the non chrono 46, and the lugs have a funny downwards pointing shape. This can result unconfortable if he has very wide wrists, as the lugs would literraly sting him. I'd strongly recommend that your hubbie tries it on first, unless the shop can take it back and swap it for another model if any problem.
