from what i have seen Breitling vintage chrono prices have gone up 5 to 10% per year over the last 5 years or so

good watches can still be bought for 'steal' prices if you have patience and persistence

Good examples (from my memory)

All black digital 765 AVI was sold a few months ago for "only" 8K , compared to $7100 in 2009 , the watch that originally started this thread. Personally i'd expected more of an increase from 2009 to 2013 ?

V72 recently sold for $12K on ebay and $15k through christies, both watches in good / great condition

A 70ies rattrapante recently fetched $40K i. A auction

An all black 806 typically fetches now between 3800 - 4500

Black white 765 avi's in pristine condition fetch 4750

There's a 1962 b/w cossie for sale right now, asking $9k (was 12) should sell for ?

Reasonable 1765 just sold for 3.8K euro (5k usd)



Any other reference prices to revisit in 5 years from now ?

while 1 was searching (I cant find it on christies anymore) I found the same watch on Antiquorum

There shouldn't be any question on the authenticity of that one, which maybe why I put it out of mind. And it is a shame they don't post more images in the on-line listings, though it might have been on purpose.

As for myself, I wouldn't trust a Duograph that didn't have "Duograph" on the dial. I notice in the 1969 catalog that only the three-register Co-Pilots and some Top Times don't have a model name on the dial. Likewise, all the reference numbers have been updated. Und, three-minute ticks on the minute totalizer were dropped around 1963.

Because comparing a Breitling to a Rolex is like comparing a cow chip to a diamond.
