I have been lurking on these forums for a few years now. I have finally saved up and decided on a Navitimer. Possibly Old Navitimer. Can you guys help me out and tell me what I should be looking for, what I should avoid? Should I be looking at watches that have recently been serviced by BA, or not... etc... Thanks in advance!

If you are looking for an Old Navitimer then you may not have the best choice in pieces so you are going to have to consider buying what's available. Obviously avoid anything that looks like it's been dropped off a building, but if it hasn't been serviced then it's not necessarily an issue, just factor servicing costs into the price. Make sure that you post pictures in the replica section first to make sure that it's real.

If you are buying on line, make sure you get actual photos of the watch for sale, and not advertising images. Try for provenance wherever you buy from (the paperwork to satisfy authenticity and previous ownership). That’s always hard but hold out for it if you can. If you buy from an AD, then you have some real surety of the watch being real.

Wherever you buy, buy the seller first, before you buy the watch. Get as much info and make as many enquiries as you can to be sure it’s real.

Post a pic of it on the source before you buy,(if you can) so the expects here (which I am not) can judge its ranking and authenticity. Someone is always available to do that, but also as Roff suggests, check the fake descriptions here.

When you say "old", do you mean 5, 10, 20, 30, or 40 years old? What color/style/bracelet/strap do you have in mind?

Navi's pop up on the Buy/Sell/Trade forum fairly regularly. viewforum.php?f=3

The Dealer's Sale Corner forum also has Navi's for sale. viewforum.php?f=26
