Holy Schnapps sold for less than what I paid for my 765. And this one is rarer.

Wow - besides a scratched crystal looks in potentially great shape.

This watch is a real mystery as their seems to be two years of issue on it. The early pre three registers version around 1953 and then a second issue of them around 59/60. Not seen much in between - so it's possible the watch was re-issued again seven or eight years after the first round.

The Book shows a german catalogue which has both the 765 models for sale and it dates it to 1960. It's possible that they were selling left overs of the older model, but seems odd if the date of the catalogue is to be believed?

I do think this is genuinely later because it uses the odd shock protection system we looked at when identifying the mis-labeled 53 Navi's

I saw it when it was first listed but I couldn't tell if the sub register hands were missing or not and it looked pretty rough plus no descritpion worth mentioning. Don't need another project watch at the moment. I knew it wouldn't last long though but a little surpised it went for the asking price considering the condition.

well, another one worth documenting - 1953 ref. 765 AVI.
went above what I thought was reasonable, but in great shape; seller Bill Shaine, sold for $7.811

the search for that elusive affordable Digital AVI continues.

Interesting bridge stamping on that one - jewels below the screw.

Another example of early 1950's inconsistencies. Also why I don't randomly dismiss anything from this period.
