Hi all,
New here... I'm about to purchase an Airwolf Raven in the next few days but noticed it's no longer listed on the website any more.
The AD I'm about to purchase it from says they can order it in and it will take approx. 4-8 weeks to arrive but I'm worried I'll end up getting a phone call later on saying they can't even get it anymore.

Does anyone know if these can still be ordered? Generally speaking when a model gets discontinued, I'm guessing it's because it's less desirable. Does this impact the future value of the watch negatively or positively?

Hi Dennis,

Welcome.

I have the sister model (if you like to call it that) to the Airwolf, the SkyRacer. They are almost identical, except the Airwolf is Ani/Digi quartz and the Sky Racer is mechanical. There are some differences to the rotating bezels as well, but essentially they are the same size and configuration.

If you are worried, perhaps swap over. Or, ask the AD beforehand to confirm the order with the factory. That should be possible almost immediately, and sooner than waiting to hear 2 or 3 weeks later that its not available.

I can't think why the would be pulling the Airwolf from the market, if that’s the actual case. If it’s right, then perhaps they are rationalising the range. I have not got a copy of the 2013 Chronolog yet, but the full available range for 2013 will be in there, and if the Airwolf has been removed, then thats probably the best answer.

Anyone else out there know?

I wouldn't worry about whether discontinuing a model affects teh future value or not. 99% of watches depreciate irrespective of their production status, and in actual fact, some models (depending on their popularity) see a very slight (and usually short-lived) holding of their value immediately after they're discontinued as people who always liked the model but never bought one, suddenly feel "time is running out" to get hold of one.

I agree completely, Mario. The "Emergency" seems to be a fair example of your assertion. No longer on the website or as a Chronolog model option, I've noticed a number of WTB's for the E on various fora sales corners. As for the Airwolf Raven, I was a little surprised at the discontinuance of the standard Airwolf shortly after the Raven was announced. It would be interesting to know sales figures showing whether the vulcanized model was a better seller or not. It certainly didn't stay in production very long. In a perfect world, Breitling would bring back the SQ B-1 configured exactly as it was when ended production in 2006 except with the addition of a micro-sized 406MHZ emergency transmitter onboard. While I'm dreaming, add an A70 analog UTC module kitted with a 22-20 (north side)/20-20 (south side) Pro II bracelet to the mix. Make the whole package available in either all polished, all brushed or a combination of the two. I'm sure wifey wouldn't mind if I placed a deposit on a grail like that...

Called my nearest AD this afternoon and turns out, they cannot order the Airwolf Raven any longer because it is a discontinued model.

I was just on Breitling's website and noticed the New Avenger Blacksteel Code Yellow... I'm going to see if they can give me a good deal this one instead.

Precisely my reaction when I saw this thread. Shame I can't justify the outlay at the moment.

Just noticed on the Breitling Website that the Sky Racer has also been removed for 2013. Wow, rationalisation or what!

One item I did see, which I did not know about is the Chronospace Automatic. Reminds me of a Revue T Slide Rule watch I have. Don't be too hard on me, as it just reminds me of it for some reason or other.

I found another AD about 2 hours from me that has the Airwolf Raven in stock but now I'm getting seconds thoughts about buying it.
What is everyone's take on the Super Quartz movement? I have a friend that thinks I'm crazy to spend that kind of money on a watch with a quartz and not an automatic movement. :/

Many people here would agree with your friend, many would disagree.

Buy what you like, not what other people think - if you like the watch and quartz vs. mechanical isn't an issue for you then buy it, buying a design that you like less simply because it is mechanical makes no sense.

My take on SQ? AWESOME! The time-keeping precision is very impressive. I set my Airwolf last Jul to atomic clock and is only off by half a second 6 months later.
