I have a Montbriliant Datora that i dont really wear, I think for the most part I have fallen out of love with it because its ust a bit blingy IMO.(no offence intended)

Image

So I have been thinking of selling it and buying a new ceramic IWC but they are not cheap. I wear a AP ROC as my main watch and its getting hammered ( the sharp edges on this watch mark very easily and as such in my view its not as sporty as people think, I still adore it though).... anyway I need a tough watch to rotate it with, problem is a as mentioned, im not wearing the Breitling.

since finding this pic on the web am seriously thinking i should try and copy-ish this.

Image

So some questions to anyone out there who knows (MarcJ?)

Rough cost of DLC for case only?
Rough cost for DLC Case and bracelet?

I would also need the outer white ring on my Montbrilliant dial (measurer) coloured black to complete the look, is this easy to do? i am not bothered about having the white chrono dials like the DLC version as I am sure the current black will be fine.

Interested to hear anyones views on the idea, positive or not.

potentially a marmite subject.

Cheers all.

Sorry, but I think it's a terrible idea. The navi looks bad enough dlc'd but the monty would look even worse IMO. If you think it's too bling, put it on a nice croc strap - problem solved.

I hope the picture of that Navi 01 LE DLC is just a photoshop job.

Would result in a watch worth absolutely nothing. Breitling would refuse to touch it with a 10 foot pole and (in my opinion) it would look hideous.

Well Joe you are, after all, implying that you are flipping a Breitling for an IWC and that your daily wearer is an Audemars Piquet on a Breiling forum.

The Montbriliant Datora is a fantastic looking watch. At 43mm it's not too big (as some might say the Nav World is on the large side) but more wrist presence than it's smaller Montbrillant sibling.

I agree with the others here in that PVD/DLC is not what the Navitimer needs. If you think it too "blingy" sell it as is or to keep Breitling on your side as far as servicing is concerned, ask if they would brush finish it at the next service (or sooner). B-UK will brush finish and still honour future work policy. After all Breitling have produced a number of brushed finished Navitimer. (Fighter and 50th Aniversary)

Maybe to get it brushed, it won't look too blinky...

surprised you find the Datora too "blingy", as it is among the least blingy of all current models.

as suggested above, put a nice croc strap (black, gold, brown) on it before you try anything else, you'll be surprised how elegant and subdued it will look.

the idea of DLCing a Datora is, well .....

But at the end of the day it's your watch & imho you should decide how you like em...

I used to totally hate the look of pvd'd Rolex. But after seeing 2 of my friends' PVD'd Deepseas in the steel, I'm much MUCH more intrigued by it now (to the point of thinking "damn that's HOT!" :D)

You decide!
