You can buy 24mm "fat-boy" spring bars on the Bay too - I guess those aren't Seiko, but I've used 24mm versions myself as well and the quality of the ones I bought were fine.

Yes.

Same as every model, strap springbars are thicker and according to Wessa in another thread earlier this week bracelets are 1.5mm thick and straps are 1.8mm thick.

Let us know how you get on. I'm thinking of picking up a Nato strap for my Aerospace and would like to have a pair of Breitling springbars to replace whatever cheaper ones it'll likely come with.

Hi guys, sorry to hijack this thread but....!!

Pround owner of a BEB chronomat 44 gmt on a pilot bracelet and I absolutely love it. So today I decided to swap the bracelet over to a diver pro2. Used the bergeon 6767f to get it off and it was reasonably straight forward but took a little patience.

Next went to put the diver pro on using the new springbars the AD supplied with it. Didn't have a very close look at them but they appeared to be the same thickness as the pilot springbars. Anyway had a lot of difficulty compressing them and I couldn't even get them between the lugs. As a result I broke the first one, then the second one. I was quite frustrated by now so decided to use the springbars off the pilot bracelet and they went on very easily. So much so that I didn't even have to use the springbar tool to get them on and if I compress the rubber the right way with my fingers I can get them off without a springbar tool. They feel quite secure though, with just a little bit of play.

This is a little preplexing. Could the AD have sent me 24mm springbars instead of 22mm (bit hard to tell now because they're broken!)? I understand that the strap springbars are a little thicker than the bracelet ones (1.8 vs 1.5mm) but the length should be exactly the same right?

Thanks for your help - did a lot of reading on this forum before my purchase and the amount of information on here is incredible!

Also, does anyone know a supplier of good springbars? I've checked out ofrei.com but the shipping is very very prohibitive - ~$50 for international shipping?!?

Thanks for your help.

Kind of difficult to advise a source without knowing where you are. Watchtool.co.uk are a good source of tools, not sure if they also provide springbars. Also pure speculation on what the AD gave you, they shouldn't be that difficult to get on. The style of the shoulders is different between bracelet and strap, Ron's photos clearly show what you need - strap on the left - viewtopic.php?f=12&t=24004&p=177904#p177904

Thanks for you prompt response.

Yes, I've seen that thread and how I understand it is the conical point for the bracelet springbar is to aid with fitting it and does not affect the security of the springbar once installed.

Now here's another curly one - is there a known diameter for the springbar tips? I've seen springbars with 0.8, 1.0 and 1.1 mm tips, so is there a specific one I should go for? I've read that if the tips are too small it can move around a bit in the hole and cause some damage.

Oh, I'm in Australia if anyone knows of any good suppliers here.

No idea what diameter the tips should be, just measure the hole!

I've just asked BUK for spring bars in the past and they've always obliged (although that may be because I've sent quite a few watches to them for servicing over the years). Not sure if this will help you though as I'm not even sure if there is a "Breitling Australia"? If there is, just tell them the watch you have and the strap you have, and that should be sufficient.

Alternatively your AD should be able to provide what you need, but it sounds like they possibly gave you the incorrect (i.e. too ling) bars last time.

Either way, it'll be a lot easier than trying to buy from elsewhere.

Thanks for your advice everyone,

Yeah, ultimately I think it's too much of a headache to get them sourced externally. When you spend that much on a watch you don't want to have be worrying that you're watch might fall off because of incorrectly sized / poor quality springbars. As others have said, they're pretty much all that's holding the watch to your wrist!

I've contacted breitling here in Australia and they are trying to find some for me.
