Hi Everyone.

Two weeks ago I went in to a local AD with 4 divers in mind: Omega SMP-c, Omega PO 8500 42mm, Tag Heuer Aquaracer 500M Ceramic, and the Rolex DSSD. I tried on all three except the Rolex and liked all 3. We walked past the Breitling display to head over to the Rolex showcase and a Breitling caught my girlfriend's eye.

Long story short I ended up leaving with a SuperOcean 44 Abyss White on bracelet :D . Honestly it wasn't even on my radar.

Pics of the watch when I first brought it home:

Right after the novelty wore out I felt a little discomfort with the watch being loose and the clasp was not centered, so after reading the bracelet article on breitlingsource, I had the AD readjust my bracelet per the breitlingsource article and I'm very happy with the comfort and wrist presence of the watch.

The past couple of weeks I've checked my watch against time.gov and it was running 4.5+ fast until most recently the average is about + 4.1. I have a Hamilton Jazzmaster Viewmatic that uses the ETA 2824-2 and it seems to slow down the watch when its resting crown down, but on my Breitling it seems to gain a bit with the crown down so I've been trying with the crown up. I'm hoping the watch will "break in" and slow down to +1 or +2 per day.

I bought the Diver Pro II straps for the watch but the bracelet looks so good I'm going to wear the bracelet full time.

I'm truly enjoying the watch!

Welcome to BreitlingSource. Not as much of an issue with a screwdown crown, but never a good idea to rest a watch crown down. +4 now is going to settle to nearer +0 in the next few weeks.

Thank you for your reply. Can you elaborate on the issue of resting the watch crown down? When its on my left wrist and my arm is in the rested position when standing or walking the crown is pointing down. Is there a difference if there's pressure on the crown when its rested on a table? I'm still a newbie when it comes to mechanical watches. Thank you.

Crown down position isn't an issue, you don't want the watch resting on the crown because it puts lateral pressure on the relatively fragile crown stem.

Thank you for your reply. I'm assuming resting it on a pillow crown down will be okay? ( for my Hamilton).

Thank you.

Better than on a desktop at least. Personally, I would never put a watch crown down on any surface, but that's just me.
