Breitling have received a lot of bad press recently for their new designs and new direction.

This all seemed to start with the font used for the Chronomat 44 bezel numerals.

It took me awhile but I now really like them.

The new Chronomat 44 GMT has just arrived at Andrew Michaels and I think the new 24 hour bezel is the nicest I've seen in a long time.

I also love the fact that it only increments in half hour steps.

Please see the updates at the end of my GMT 04 review here.

As always I'd love to hear your opinions on this new-for-2012 Breitling. I know I'll get honest and unbiased comments, regardless of the fact that this is the largest Breitling forum.

The watch looks far to big on the arm of that person. Yes, that was the first impression LOL... I'm guessing that your model is a smaller person? I like the looks of the watch.but... Still, i wouldn't buy it. That large red arrow for the extra hourhand is still a negative in my mind.

Nice review as always Ricardo. The Buck bezel and the million-and-one different fonts are still not for me, but a nice review.

I know I haven't got the largest wrists on the block but I thought it looked OK.

I'm reviewing the Transocean Unitime. I'm desperately trying to convince myself that the 46mm case looks OK on me because I love it.

Thanks Mr Driver. I appreciate your kind words.

The new bezel really does divide opinion.

I won't ask you which one you prefer out of the diver or 24 hour bezel, rather I'll ask you which one you detest the most.

Nice pics. I think it looks ok on your wrist.

Any ideas why the WR has reduced to 200m on this model?

 Tricky one!

I know it was a rhetorical question, but for the record I definitely dislike the rubber on the Abyss considerably more than the Chronomat's. The 24 hour 01 bezel actually looks a lot better to me than the standard Chronomat 01 bezel as the "Buckness" looks less pronounced IMO. It's more the multitude of fonts on the dial that I dislike on that particular piece. For me, the GMT is a real case of "oh so close". A few less fonts and a non-Buck bezel and it would've been a must have.

TBH if they weren't quite so damn expensive now I might even be able to overlook these points, but when they cost as much as they do I have to be absolutely 100% certain that I love every single thing about a watch before I'll buy one. :|

Of all the new bezel watches, I do like the GMT 44, but not sure if I like it quite enough to justify the cost. Maybe a nice used one down the road would make the price range more acceptable.
