So I'm getting married in about a month and a half and I'm looking to get the best man a watch as a thank you gift. I'm looking to spend between $1,000 and $1,5000 on the piece. Also, I'm looking for something with at least a 45 mm diameter case (47-48mm would be preferred). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

Tag, Tissot and Oris all come to mind.

I think Steinhart would be in range, if an IWC pilot type watch is of interest. There's some pretty decent shots in this thread.

Maybe not quite big enough at 44mm but the Hamilton x Wind is a cracking piece and is well regarded by many. Decent warranty too.

Good call. Their chronos are very nice.

For something a little different the Muhle Glashutte Terranaut II and Terrasport will just about fit in that price range. They are only 44mm but wear large.

Out of all the brands in that range, I think Oris is the best you can get. Within the brand, many models fall into that pricepoint.

If he's not a watch geek, maybe something with some name recognition? Tag is the first that comes to mind. Thats one of the holy grails of non-WIS.

I vote for the Hamilton Pan Europe. That is a sharp watch

Agreed. I got together with some friends once. I was wearing my Breitling Motors T and a friend of mine wore some quartz Tag. We started comparing watches when a third friend ran over and said "Wow a Tag. Nothing beats a Tag!!"

I got rid of my Aquaracer Automatic not too long ago...it definitely got a ton of recognition tho. Awesome watch but it kept terrible time and after two services during about 3.5 years, I gave up. And IIRC it has the same base movement as my Steelfish, so Breitling must do one hell of an overhaul.
