good to see that, it had sold and was now removed by ebay, we'll keep watching that guy.

Does anyone know what they are talking about here? I own several Breitling's and NOT all straps are only made of Crocodile. Many are textured leather!

Leather straps read "Cuir Veritable" (genuine leather).

Crocodile straps read "Croco Veritable" (genuine crocodile).

A calf leather Breitling strap does NOT make a strap fake?!?!

It does if it has a crocodile pattern on the front.

The subject strap was called "Alligator" in the listing, it looks like crocodile, and is marked "Cuir".

I suggest you actually go buy a Breitling before you consider yourself an expert.

Breitling as well as MANY other watch makers offer "textured" calf leather straps.

Many customers are against exotic leathers! Like Crocodile especially!

Could you cite a source for that claim please. I'll be the first to apologise to you, er I mean the eBay seller, if you can show me a Breitling sales book, catalogue, price list, etc that shows a textured calf strap.

I wouldn't trust those descriptions on Authentic Watches as 100% correct as they are confusing and inconsistent. The first link is described as suede even though the strap in the pic is clearly tanned hide.

The others are described as crocodile and crocodile pattern

Just proving my point before you all bash a seller based on false info.

Do a Google search and you will find ALL authentic Breitling straps have options of crocodile or alligator patterned (textured) calf leather. In fact the real crocodile is very hard to find!

NOW, I agree IF the strap said "Croco" but was actually "Calf" leather, that would be a fake. but it does not...

About the most polite response I can think of to this statement is - what utter nonsense.

You haven't actually proven anything. Without a picture from a Breitling catalog or web site, or an AD's website, it doesn't matter how much you repeat yourself, I don't believe that anyone here will be convinced. You might note that the Breitling price list shows only calf and croco.

For what it's worth, I have seen the information posted here (excepting your posts) mentioned time and again on this web site, and have not seen any of the ADs who frequent this web site dispute it.

We have crossed over to abject absurdity. The authenticwatches description is simply the way some online dealers describe an alligator or croco stap - "7" Black Leather Replacement Band with Crocodile Pattern." "Leather" does NOT mean "calf!" Alligator is made of alligator leather. Crocodile is made of crocodile leather. Calf is made of itty-bitty cow leather. Think about it dude - it is being offered for $595 which just happens to be full retail cost of a Breitling croco. A calf strap retails for $275. That's some expensive "texturing."

I have seen $30,000 Blancpains on authenticwatches.com with the strap described as "Leather with crocodile pattern." See, http://www.authenticwatches.com/blancpa ... 2-55b.html Blanpain does not sell "crocodile textured" calfhide straps. Their straps are made for them by Camille Fournet. Neither does Breitling sell "croco patern" calfhide straps.

For further proof, and as a purchaser of over 30 Breitling straps, I have looked through the Authorized Dealer catalogue many times over the last 3 years and they do NOT sell fake croco straps.

Before embarrasing yourself further, here is the definition of leather:

A material made from the skin of an animal by tanning or a similar process.
