Thinking which one I would personally prefer to receive, then I'd have to say the Sub. Reason being that, as great as most JLC's are, I just really dislike Reversos........., and that 1931 version looks absolutely hideous to me. Plus, if your son turns out to be not really into watches, then a JLC won't mean that much to him per se (other than being a great gift from his old dad of course!), whereas a Rolex.... well, it's a Rolex.... and everyone knows Rolex the world over.

Yes, yes, I'm no doubt a heathen to say such things, but that 1931 does nothing for me at all.

I am a JLC fan but hate Reverso's also. I agree that the 1931 is hideous beyond belief. JLCs throwback vintage pieces do nothing for me.

That was my reason for voting the way I did. I will always go with what I like over some perceived "significance" of the piece, especially if the significant one does nothing for me, which is certainly the case with that Reverso.

I'm still about 99% certain I'm getting the Sub. I like the Reverso, but I don't know if I like it that much.

If it were my watch I'd probaly say Reverso...but for reasons already stated I think it HAS to be the R-watch.

Another vote against the Reverso. I have a case of JLC envy but wouldn't wear a Reverso, they do nothing for me. Driver's logic seems about right IMO.

I went with the Sub, and it should be here Thursday. As for the other new arrival, he's as happy and healthy as any one day old boy can be.

Congratulations! You must be thrilled.

Oh, and the kid is good news, too.

I feel a tremendous burden lifted. I have secretly harbored disdain for the Reverso but remained quiet for fear of shame and ridicule. I am out of the closet and it feels great.

I must respectfully disagree. The 1931 Tribute is incredibly subdued yet amazing in person. Photos truly do nothing for that watch. I had one on my wrist in Carmel, CA and it completely changed my mind about the Reverso. The strap alone is incredible. That man makes boots for Prince William! ABP my ass!

@jnelson - I don't see how you could go wrong with the Sub-C in this situation. You are already a great father and I truly hope your son finds it special when you give it to him. My father gave me a watch when I graduated from college, nothing that would seem special in the WIS world but, it is the most valuable watch I own. Good on you for an excellent fatherly gift.

To me the Reverso is a great iconic watch which I should own someday but don't know if I ever will. I like them, but I like so many others as well. I have tried on a 1931 twice, was certain I wouldn't like it but was surprised each time at how much I did. I'd lean towards a more "modern" reverso and the dial is something I couldn't commit to, but it's a great watch--if it was going to be yours. As a pass-down, I agree the sub was the better choice. Congrats, but primarily on the birth of your child.

Congratulations Justin..... on all counts!! Great news!

And obviously I think you've made the right choice with the Sub too! While I appreciate the iconic status of the 1931, I personally just don't like it. It's kind of like the Ploprof : totally iconic, but also totally polarising. I'm a massive fan of that watch, but many hate it.

Sub all the way in this instance!

All best to you and yours Justin.

Congratulations Justin. Having a healthy baby is just about as good as it gets.

I think it's a wonderful thing you did with the watch as well. Your son will appreciate it no matter whether he's into watches or not. Obviously a tough choice on the two but a good decision in the end (either way it was going to be a good decision :D ).

Enjoy the new addition to the family.
