Good news!
According to my agent, all watches with inhouse movements are now sold with a 5 year warranty. I have no idea, if this warranty will also be valid on former sold watches, but I think, its a good move. Although, I don't expect the watches to run so much longer with less problems, than other Breitling watches, we can still consider it "a free first service".
But I have to admit, that Breitling has a lot less warranty cases, than for example Omega (immense troubles with Constellation ladies automatic and some first generation Planet Oceans).

I believe that in most (all?) markets it's on any piece sold on or after January 1st 2012 Thomas.

I hope that's the case. A couple of weeks ago, I emailed Breitling Swiss about it. I got a very nice reply saying that the new warranty for manufacture calibres is 5 years but that they couldn't give me more information at this time about retroactive application of the warranty (I bought my watch in late March). She encouraged me to check back with my AD in a couple of months.

My general agent just stated, that they want to cover the warranty for all manufacture movements (bought in the countries, they cover, which means Austria and most of eastern Europe from 2009 on). This is not official Breitling policy, but only from our Agent! In most other countries, only watches sold after January 1st, 2012 are covered.

But there has to be a waterresistant check every 2 years from an official Breitling servicecenter to cover any damage caused by flooding. Eventually exchanged gaskets, pushers, crowns and other material is covered by the warranty.

That's very good news Thomas (as is your agent's additional policy).
