I did not think I would ever get used to the new Chronomat either until I decided to get Don's B01 LE, more out of necessity for completing a "mission" that was buzzing in my head than the actual yearning for it.
Had issues with it being brushed rather than polished, the square, the font, the new tabs, etc..
Once I laid my eyes on it in real life rather than pictures it all changed.
The square is so subtle I hardly notice it, I got used to the font, the brushed with a hint of polished looks great.
It was love at first sight and I now consider it THE KING in my collection.
Mid life crisis perhaps :-)

the biggest problem with the Chronomat GMT is the size. 47mm is just waaaaaay too big for a Windrider model.

I was at my local AD yesterday, and it seemed like everything that they had in the case was 46mm or larger. It was as if the glass had a magnifier on it. Heck, the more that I think about it, maybe it did!

Or it could be their perceived audience - I didn't know we had that many hip-hop artists around here. But I was disappointed, because nothing there would fit me and it all looked so gaudy.

Some people like 38mm watches, I just wish Breitling made more of them, and that ADs would stock them. Just sayin'. Keeping in with the initial theme of a rant.

I said similar in a recent thread on the new range. I thought 41mm was about right for the entry-level Colts, esp as they were 38mm only a few years previously; but now they're 44mm they're leaving one demographic behind.

The problem with size is just like everything else to do with watch aesthetics - one man's meat is another man's poison.

For me, 44mm is perfect for most conventionally styled watches. I say conventionally as the some watches like the Ploprof are nominally larger than 44mm, but their design (i.e. short or non-existant lugs) makes them wear much smaller. However, in the case of the Navitimer, the fine construction - relatively thin lugs, etc - means that 46mm is my ideal Navi size. So this means that anything below these sizes alienates me in the same way that the big stuff alienates people who like the smaller models.

Difficult for companies to please everyone all the time.

Well, it's certainly more difficult if the range of widths they do gets smaller!

Where's the classic, or should say it could have become a classic if it was not discontinued, Steelfish when you need it.

I'm very disillusioned with Brietling's direction.

I suppose the company that came up with the Galactic range can.

I actually like my Galactic 41. It's much "different" than the "typical" Breitling. I also love my B-1 and Steelfish. They're all different in their own ways. The new "space" font and the square on the dial give these watches a more modern, rather than classic, look...in my opinion.

Of course you're free to like and dislike whatever you choose, but maybe the square will grow on you. At first, in the AD, I didn't like the square. Then I tried it on another time, went to another mirror and was very impressed. For some reason it just 'clicked' in my head that the square made the watch nice and modern while maintaining its elegance.

Either way, whatever floats your boat (or flies your plane).
