The presentation/accent/voice is mesmorizing... I'd feel compelled to buy a watch from this man.

I've heard everything about this watch but I've watched this more than once. Ha!

Just got done watching...Great review. Very relaxing and possibly expensive! LOL. One question..the new compound that is in the steel of this watch that helps it fight salt water..is this in all new Breitlings this year? Or is this model specific? When was this compound added?

there is one sentence about this on the Breitling site, stating that the case is "made from a steel alloy that is particularly resistant to corrosion in a saline environment."

An ongoing and recurrent topic of the L904 steel occurs here to my mind: I think it is not impossible that Breitling switched to this alloy. Rolex is the only brand using it instead of the very widespread 316L, used by every other factory, from Sinn to Patek, AP, Cartier, VC and so on. Out of the debates I think that the 904L is not really better, rather only different form the 316L, making a good advertising topic for Rolex, who hasn't published this for many years but now it is on the Rolex site. Maybe the 2010 SO uses the same, or a third kind of alloy - all my guesses only.

I'd also be happy if someone expert would chime in, AD-s and Forum Sponsors with good contact to Breitling/Grenchen are also welcome!

Best, Robert

Ya you would think that if the 904 steel were "better" that companies especially like Patek would be using it. Then again, they dont make many watches that arent gold or platinum etc, so maybe trying to market a better/use a better steel is not worth their time. You would think though that at least one other company would be using the 904. I have always thought that its a bit of a marketing scheme by Rolex.

Any thoughts experts?

Sorry if I might have made myself misunderstandable: I do not think that the 904L should be superior. I think that it is rather a marketing issue for Rolex. But it is only my opinion.

As if you re-read my post again I am agreeing with you, saying what you stated makes sense.

Just a word about metallugy in response to this olllld thread. 904 L is a superior alloy of stainless steel when compared to 316L. It specifically is better with respect to chloride corrosion (e.g. - aqueous solutions containing salt). 316 SS is actually fairly susceptible to what's called "pitting corrosion" when compared to 904. 904L is also stronger and more durable than 316. I'm not one to defend Rolex, but it's not just marketing.
