But if you miss the Headwind, and don't mind hunting a bit, they still turn up.

I'm supposed to look at a Wings today, but I'll keep my eyes open for a Headwind.

Having said that, one of the non-titanium quartz models could be an option . . .

If you're considering quartz check out the new Colt chronos at an AD. IMO, one of the better new designs.

I'm thinking in terms of a digital / analog model, not in titanium. A Navitimer variation, maybe?

Here's the one I was thinking of--Stainless steel, new model, in black or a white (ivory) dial.

If I went with a watch that had a battery, I'd rather go digi / analog.

If I went with a three register chronograph, I'd stick with mechanical . . .

The Chronomat Evolution was Breitlng's top seller for a while. It has been recently discontinued but has what most consider the classic Breitling look. The are always pre-owned Evos popping up in excellant on the sales forums. Priced at about $3k.

Try taking a look at the "Models" section on the Home Page to get some idea at least what style you are wanting. At that point, we can help.

. . . I won't have an idea of how I like it until I can get the links re-fitted, and one of the four screws is missing for the Pilot bracelet!

Time will tell . . .

I keep telling myself I will sit down with the paper sliderule guide that came with the watch and figure it out.

The one Breitling which will NEVER age is the Navitimer. Personally, I prefer the look of the old ETA 7750/3 to the in-house movement but either way, you cant go wrong.

With regard to quartz, the B-1 is a much loved classic and will hold its value.

As for lines to avoid, the Flying B is heavily discounted new for a reason!

I've bought five Breitlings, 2 new, 3 used. I only have one now (one of the new ones). If you are undecided which model will suit you, I'd suggest buying used (if you are comfortable with that). Then if you decide that it's not for you, you can sell it for hopefully close to what you paid for it.

I consider that excellent advice.

I'll try the Windrider Wings for a while and if it doesn't move me, I'll try again, possibly following up on the B1 suggestion . . .

:yeahthat Sharky's on the money with this advice. If you are looking for one to keep then the Navi is the most timeless choice, but personally I'd want to go with the in-house version. The TO Chrono (as already mentioned here) will also become a timeless classic as well I'm betting, although to be fair it already is to a certain extent as it's closely based on a much older model. But it will never have the heritage of a Navi.

Also agree with Sharky that the B1 is probably the most "loved" quartz model that Breitling have ever produced, so a minty one of them will never be a terrible investment.
