I really like the Pelagos...42mm, titanium, no date cyclops, and really love the lume on the bezel.

:yeahthat

The nicest Tudor I've seen.

Holy sh!t, that's the most amazing clasp set up I've seen. Just watched the video of it. Don't they sell these in Dallas and some other US spots???? If so, it would be worth the cost of a round trip flight to Dallas just to try it out.

I would think these would sell well in the US. Good price point on two very attractive divers. How would US Customs equate an import duty on an item not actually sold in the US? Just thinking...

Import duty. Applies to goods bought abroad. Not sure how much. Paid about $100 to get my Sinn back from repairs. About the same for my BS LE. Crazy.

I can understand duty on newly purchased items; it's to protect American businesses and manufacturers from being undersold. (I'll refrain from discussions on the merits of this practice from a free-market perspective.) But what grounds does customs have to charge duty on items you already own, that you're merely transporting through the mail? I know if an item is declared a gift, there is no duty. Above-board vendors typically won't do that, but I'm surprised there isn't another option for declaring already-owned goods.

It was FedEx thieves, err, brokers. They charged on the "value" of the repairs. It wasn't worth a prolonged pissing match, hassle, and aggravation over 80 or 100 dollars.

I'd say, "unbelievable," but I can believe it.

Hmmm... That's the real question.

Anyway, speculation is that the price is in the 3000.00 to 4000.00 usd range. But as far as I know, there are no US ADs.

3-4 for which one? If the Pelagos, it would definitely be worth the risk of never trying it on plus customs fees. Sign me up.

I copied this from a thread on WUS:

"Re: Tudor Baselworld 2012.
I called an AD in Germany today and was quoted 2400 euros for the Black Bay on a strap.
That works out at £2,000 or $3200 at today's exchange rate.
Just FYI.

Seems like we should recruit Fred as our Western European point person for pricing and availability.

Why won't Rolex allow Tudor to sell in the US? Parochial bastards. :poke:

Pretty cool clasp, I think one would need to see the tension of the springs to judge how useful it is without neoprene. Neoprene is rather firm and I can't see the springs being too soft, or they would allow the watch to simply rotate around as you wouldn't be able to snug it up. Then considering how much force it would take to keep it in place, but still allow expansion, I would guess it would be too stiff to release as your wrist expands slightly throughout the day. You likely couldn't tighten it on your wrist enough to get the springs to work and have it comfortable.

They sure do. I have a local AD that carries them. Funny enough he's also a Rolex AD.

Very interesting. Really like the Palegos dial design, the way the thick indices are cut into the dial/rehaut edges, the lumed clean bezel, and size is good. Overall, just a really clean, readable design with great lume!
