Hi all,
I have never bought an expensive watch before. Could never justify the cost. However, a significant birthday has given me the opportunity to ignore the price! I looked around for ages. I like a chunky watch and want one that is digital and analog - some might scoff, but it's what I fancy. I finally settled for the Airwolf Raven on the SS bracelet. I ordered it just before Christmas from an online dealer, only to be told that it was end of line. The dealer was surprised because ther had been no notice from Breitling. Tried another dealer - got the same story. Now really stuck, no other watch I like as much and don't want to compromise. Aerospace is not chunky. I like the Chronospace but not the "chain mail" type bracelet.
Is there any rumours about a replacement for the Airwolf? Any idea why is disappeared so suddenly? Can you confirm that you can't have a Chronospace with a Professional bracelet?
Help....

Thanks

Although I do have a limited capacity to buy in the US, and in a few European countries providing the exchange rates are favourable.

Breitling didn't tell the online dealer because online dealers aren't authorised!

You can't put a Chronospace on the Pro II bracelet but in terms of trying to get what you want, give a call to the two UK based site sponsors - Andrew Michaels and Banks Lyon - links at the top and see if they can help you out.

Thanks very much for the tip, I'll try the links!

BTW although these were not ADs, they are brokers and deal with ADs. Both said they had price lists with "endangered" model lists which did not mention the Airwolf. Both also said that their dealers were also surprised that the model had been deleted?

Good luck on your quest for the AW Raven. I applaud your choice. I purchased an LE Airwolf (non-Raven) and absolutely love the combined analog-digital feature, the NVG-compatable backlighting and especially the accuracy of the timepiece. I swear it has not lost one SECOND since setting the time on it last summer. And amazingly, I find myself frequently using the digital features (which I didn't originally think I would). Once again, good luck on your quest and am sure you can get your hands on a new Raven!

I can confirm, that the Airwolf Raven will soon be unavailable on the new watches market...
But there are still many dealers, who have them on stock available.

Well brokers is a polite way of saying "Gray Market Dealers," companies who buy stock from ADs at extremely high discounts with the intent to resell. The ADs know it when they are selling to "gray market" online dealers. And the ADs who do that violate the terms of their agreement with Breitling, or the pertinent Breitling distributor actually. And for the most part, in my expereince, the folks who work there and interface with cutomers don't know very much.

Fact is you can almost always do as well or better with a legit AD than a gray market company.

Thanks for all the replies, very useful and informative. However, one part of my question has not got any answers yet. Does anyone know if there is a planned replacement coming from breitling? Typically where is the best place to find out about new models?

Thanks!

Nothing has been announced - we find out when they are announced. Basel starts in a few weeks and that's when the major releases occur.

To elaborate on this for those not in the know, "Basel" is short for BaselWorld Watch and Jewellery Show, which is the watch and jewelry industry's annual trade show, where new models get debuted. It's held in March, but new models typically don't start showing up at dealers much before the following fall. If you're sure the Airwolf Raven is what you want, you'd be better off tracking one down now. No telling if there will even be a replacement coming out, and if there is you'll have to wait a while before getting one. Also, if history is anything to go by, an upgraded model will almost certainly cost more, irrespective of whether or not if offers actual improvements.

On a related note, what does it portend that Breitling is discontinuing a rubber-bezel model? Good things, I hope.
