Of my current 7, only 1 was bought in Vancouver at Time & Gold. The rest were from out of town.

Not really true.

For a start there is no such thing as Breitling Canada. the distributor is Grigoros which is also the owner of La Swiss. Rather than keep stock at head office they push most of it out to the La Swiss stores, but because the corporate model is to have the stores compete with one another the managers of most La Swiss stores refuse to send stock to other stores because they want to try and 'steal' the customer instead. As a result the store managers don't even bother trying to locate stock from other stores and go to Grigoros who order direct from Switzerland.

Canadians know there is no "Breitling Canada" but if we were to write "Grigoros" then 3/4 of this board would have no clue who/what we are refering to.

La Swiss is not the only Canadian AD so even if there were La Swiss stores that did pull from others, the other AD's do not have access to inventory except for they have on hand, unlike in the US, or most other parts of the world.

I am well aware that La Swiss is not the only Canadian AD, my point is that Grigoros pushes as much stock as possible out to the ADs that they own - La Swiss. Most ADs (anywhere in the world) only get what they order, and in most cases that's simply what they have to order to meet the contract requirements. With La Swiss there is significant pressure to carry more because there is a better chance of Grigoros making money from a watch in a showcase than in a safe in Hayden Street.

Time & Gold are nice people, but they don't have much stock. I bought my Navi World from them, then in the past month wanted a Chronomatic 1461, then a Navi 1461 LE, and finally a Chronomat GMT white dial, all of them had to be ordered in and I didn't want to wait so I called down to the US instead and received them a few days later - yes, 0/3 in stock so they lost out on 3 Breitling sales in a month.

Golden Tree are really nice too. They ordered 50 Breitling's in August but only got 15 of them in by Christmas, though they did have a very extensive selection they didn't have the ones with more complications that I wanted.

La Swiss Vancouver lacks knowledge - I went in there looking for the Navi 1461 LE and they didn't even know what it was. I then saw a picture of it in the store and they didn't know the price or when they would get it in, they said "come back at the end of January and maybe we'll get it in".

I went to the 2x GemOro's in Edmonton a few weeks ago and they had a good amount of stock but all simplistic Breitling's like Golden Tree.

So, here in Canada if something is not in stock they have to call Toronto, takes 3 days to find out if they can even get it, then will take 6-8 weeks to arrive.

In the US, you call Fear and he usually has it in stock or will get it in stock within 2-3 days.

Wow Golden Tree That's awesome I tried to order 21 Breitlings from them they would not budge on their store policy on no discounts no mater what then I spoke with Bob he said No deals. I went to La Swiss got a 39.5 % discount on my order and got all my pieces within 3 1/2 weeks . I like all the AD's in Vancouver and Langley (Golden tree) they are always super nice and respectful . La Swiss some times there's a language barrier That why I bring a Breitling Chronolog with me to make thing easy.

It's probably best not to mention the amount of a killer discount and the name of the AD in the same post. Just a thought.

I'm a downtown Vancouver guy and was wearing my Chronomatic 1461 when I visited Golden Tree. I spoke with the sales guy there about me wanting the Navi 1461 LE which he said they would never have in stock as it's not a "Langley"(suburban) type of watch so it would not sell, whereas they had 6 SA's on order. I commented that I was impressed with the quantity of their stock and he claimed to have the biggest in Western Canada (which I believe since I've visited all 7 AD's), then without me even mentioning what I pay for watches he said that he was "sure could give me better pricing than I get downtown". So I am suprised they wouldn't give you anything at all if you bought 21 Breitling's, but might have to do with the difficulty they seem to have in getting orders filled vs. if you purchased in stock items.

La Swiss is not a language barrier, it's a knowledge barrier!

But to follow up, I'm not bashing La Swiss in Vancouver as they have been very nice to me when I've went in, they just don't have product knowledge like Time & Gold and Golden Tree. But I do like all 3 AD's in this area, especially comparative to GemOro in Edmonton. A few weeks ago I was shopping for an SA at GemOro (went to both locations), and wearing my Navi 1461 LE at the time so obviously am a buyer, and they said that if I didn't use an Amex then she "can probably give me a discount and save the tax"(5%). I asked what the discount was and she said "save the tax". I spoke about how Vancouver was significantly better pricing which we calcualted and in the end she said the owners don't do much better than 10%. That really is too bad but I can see them thinking they can try and monopolize the city since they're the only game in town. Not impressed.
