nice, authentic ref. 178, late 1945, no movement shot, but should be a (probably unsigned) Venus 170.

was your grandfather a doctor ?

I am probably the wrong person to ask as I would definitely keep it, it is not very valuable but quite nice, with a "doctor's dial" to calculate pulse rates and it probably has some sentimental value for you ?

As Fred suggested, it may well be worth keeping for sentimental reasons - it's not a particularly valuable piece so you aren't going to get a huge amount of money out of it and it won't lose value sitting in a drawer until you are more certain about what you want to do about it.

Sorry to hear about your grandfather.
