I guess I will get :guns: for saying this but in the end a watch is a combination of a function and looks.
The function is to keep time and Breitlings do a pretty good job at doing so however so does a $50 Timex.
The second part is the looks, history and brand which is what ultimately makes it a piece of jewlery or even a fashion accessory  .
Fashion as we know changes all the time. I do not like most of the "rags" that youngsters wear these days or what the models strut about in on the catwalk. It is however what sells these days. I'm sure that Breitling design department's KPIs (and fat bonuses) are tightly linked to sales volumes and it is sales volumes that will determine if the current trends continue or not.
I for one will certainly be adding a new Chronomat with a B01 movement to my collection even though I miss the rider tabs dearly.

There is only one constant in our lives - change. Learn to live with it :uplaugh:

Frank, top marks for that picture, it is georgous  .
Breitling marketing department should have a word with you mate. I'm sure you could even make the rider-tab-less Chronomat look good in a picture

The ONLY brand I used to be able to scan up and down the model line and find loads of watches I loved was Breitling. Suffice it to say that isn't the case any longer. At the AD on Saturday I scaned the cases and thought, "Really? That's it?"

As for the Chronomat B01, I don't really have a problem with it. Some I see I rather like.

On a side note, my AD told me of the 5 T.Os (LE and regular) they have sold so far, FOUR have come back with BO1 movement problems. YIKES!!!! :wowzers

So far, I can only find brands in my price range with on or two workable pieces I like.

Although some models turn me off, and the Blacksteel thing went a little over board, there are some great watches still. The new Chronomat line has grown on me, and I am a still fan of the SOHC and Navi line as well. But change is inevitable. I love my Chronomat B01, and am awfully close to pulling the trigger on a Chronomat GMT. I hope as more in-house models are released, the company stays true to it's aviation and nautical roots. Maybe "less" is "more" when it comes to models?

Change is inevitable, it's true. But that shouldn't be an excuse for lousy design choices. It is possible to evolve while staying true to what made you great in the first place. Rolex is the epitome of that philosophy. If Breitling wants to go chasing after ephemera, that's their choice, but I won't be running with them.

46crew, that Chronomat LE looks very nice. I think that is one of their more successful designs in that model. The Chronomat GMT, on the other hand, I wouldn't touch with a ten foot 24-hour hand.
