Hi everyone,
My Navitimer World movement seems to be much more noisier than my other Breitling watches i.e, Datora, B01, Bentley GMT & Motor .

When I quickly shake & wiggle the watch near my ear, there is this continuous roaring sound which is very obvious (similar to a rotating metal plate) which btw remindes me of cheap chinese replica movement. (I bought my Navitimer from a AD in Los Angeles). If I do the same thing with my other Breitlings, I don’t get the same roaring sound. They are noticeably much quieter.

I wonder if other Navitimer World owners can confirm this.

I can hear a sound when I shake my wrist near my ear. With my watch on, that is.

Yes. I can hear the sound on all of my Breitling watches which is kind of normal for mechanical movement. However the Navitimer by far has a louder roaring sound which makes a bit worry.

The B24 movement winds in a clockwise direction (though the World description under the models section here says it winds in both directions, it doesn't.). What you are hearing is the rotor "freewheeling" in a counter-clockwise direction.

This is pretty much across the board inherent in most Valjoux 77XX based chrono movements, the 7750 being the most obvious.

I don't have the technical expertise to suggest why some of the other 77XX based watches you have aren't as noticable, but surely someone will.

You put my mind at ease to some degree.

If I have to rate them according to the roaring sound, I would say:
1st: World
2nd : Datora
3rd: Evo (chronomat 13)

What’s interesting, the roaring sound on the above three models are ‘continuous’ and last much longer than B01 and Bentleys.
On B01 & Bentleys the roaring sound stops quickly and is quiet as whisper!!

My Olympus makes a good bit of noise too. Way more than my CSO.

The Motors and GMT wind in both directions so you will not have the freewheeling. The B01 is also bi-directional winding. The world, Datora, and Evo are unidirectional 77XX based movements. They will have whirring when you snap your wrist just right. (at least I think that's right)

Be thankful you don't have an IWC modified 7750 or the like - noisiest movement I've ever come across.

Odd, I had a Navitimer Olympus and a Montbrillant Olympus and neither made any noise. I now have a B4B Complication 19, which has the same movement, and it's perfectly quiet.

My Monty Olympus was quiet too.

You have to differentiate between normal sound of a movement upon shaking near your ear, especially with complications beyond a three hand/date, and the sound of the rotor whirring away. The Navi 01 on my wrist right now makes some noise if I shake it. The IWC Yacht Club Sergio and I had, though, sounded like a construction site even at arms length.

I'm totally guessing now - perhaps Navi range watches will carry a bit more noise than Aeromarine because there is less case and water proofing (ok, ok - resistence, not proofing.). I couldn't hear a thing in my Fishies, but all the Navi range watches I've had are generally noisier than all of the Areomarine or even the Windriders.

Well, I wasn't sure what he meant by "continuous" in reference to the loud noise.
