I wish my Breitlings ran fast. They each run slow:

Colt (A17035) = -2 seconds per day
Colt (A17350) = -20 seconds per day (yeah, I know it needs to be serviced)

I've been called a nerd by my girlfriend for always hacking my watch to time.gov, It's good to know I'm not alone.

First of all it is dependent on how I place my watch at night. Face up, down, crown up or down. I took my watch to the Breitling Service Center in Dubai because it was magnetized somehow, suddenly started running +7. Now it runs dead on or +2 depending on it is positioning at night. The other big factor is using the same source to check it against. My computer will vary by the time source I use compared to my phone using the same source. If you use the Time.gov widget it will tell you the network delay, the time between the request and the response getting back to your computer. I use to be checking it daily now as long as it is with in a couple of seconds of the same source weekly I am fine with it. Positioning at night has a bigger effect on my old Rolex than the Breitling.

This might sound dumb..but how are you checking if you gain or loose a few seconds?

time.gov is a popular reference.

The only official time. At the US Naval Observatory Nuclear time clock:

(202) 762-1401

Remember calling from your cell you will be 1 sec late due to system latency. Therefore always check your time from the same phone line.

Isn't it easier to use time.gov which is also the official time from the Naval Observatory?

My Chrono-matic is currently at +8 but better than the +11 when I got it NOS 11 days ago. Hopefully it is still breaking in. I checked the date stamp yesterday - 46th month of 2005. Jeepers!

Hi Sharkman,

So where does your 46th month fit in the Roman Calendar?     . I wonder if I can get my 'Wolf perpetual calender to work on such a calendar or whether it's just the Roman Calendar on there      .

Sorry, I couldn't help myself :) .

Apparently not! Just tried from my Mac and iPhone with no luck! I'll stick with the speed dial on my cell.

I'm not sure here and I stand to be corrected,

Isn't all time around the world taken from Greenwich Mean Time? Then recalculated depending on what longitude you are from the Greenwich Meridian? I think the actual Atomic Clock from which all other clocks are calibrated is in Greenwich, UK? Anyway, here is a link for GMT along with longitudinal corrections depending on where you are in the world.

http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/

Anyway, just my few pennies worth :D .

Steelfish runs about 4 - 5 seconds fast per day but saying that I wear it for about 16 hours per day. Days when I wear it less it runs slightly slower. I think this is normal?

How do you synchronize time for your watch? I.e. Do you synchronize your computer using a program and then sync the watch with the computer? I assume the computer will be accurate enough to check the time keeping of the watch? Total newbie here, would appreciate advice.

A popular reference here is time.gov.
