Superb review Driver, you've opened my eyes to G-Shocks, I had no idea about them at all until now! Glad you like them!

So now that you've done a stack of research, is there such a thing as an analog G-Shock with atomic timekeeping and with second timezone capabilities?

Very nice review Driver! First time I've seen the naked Frog too.

Just found the official G-Shock testing video on YouTube. The underwater test of the Frogman is at circa the 2 minute mark...... but all the tests on the other models are worth a look. Tough little blighters!

Thanks a lot for bringing this up by the way, Driver. I thought I was happy with my G-7900, now I'm looking at Frogmen on ebay.

 That's what we're here for!

Just a word of warning - if you're looking at a GWF-1000 I strongly suggest trying one on first because it wears very large across the wrist.

The GF-8250 isn't so bad, so if you are used to a 7900, you should be fine with that one. If you are looking for an older model like the titanium-cased GW-200 (which you can still find new on the bay and the like), you'll definitely be OK, as it's a little smaller than the 8250. Those models do not have the tide graph, or moon phase, or atomic timekeeping. Plus it was only the later ones that were Tough Solar. Just worth bearing in mind......

Funny you guys should say that, but I've seen a picture of someone doing just that! It'd need a custom strap that'd extend out to the outside edges of the lugs as the lug width on the steel case is only about 17 or 18mm, but it certain can (and has) been done!

Where?! I've done some poking on the net and can't find the exact mod you mentioned. I'm just curious to see how it might actually look. The lugs are awfully skinny and it appears as if they are offset. Could looky really funky/cool or just off.

It was on eBay - and it was an older version but it's still a Frogman. Here it is as a closed auction - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CASIO-BABY-G- ... 35b6ca6b79

The lugs are indeed offset as the Frogman has an asymmetic case design.

Thanks for the advice.

The one I'm looking at is the GF-1000, which is pretty much identical to the GWF-1000 but non-atomic (and quite a bit cheaper because of that). The atomic function doesn't work in Australia, so there's no point paying a couple of hundred bucks extra for it.

Problem is, trying it on is not an option, as I'm not aware of anybody who stocks them here. Might be a convenient excuse for another trip to Japan! Or (less exciting but more realistic) just buy it from an online dealer who permits returns.
