Breitling isn’t the only Swiss watch company that can mess up. But Breguet??

This is the publicity pic of the amazing Type XXII released at Basel in 2010.

This is what Breguet actually produced and delivered to ADs. (photo from Timezone)

Disappointed is not nearly strong enough to express my dismay.

Hmm...well, I wouldn't exactly call it subtle. Also, kudos for the missing reserve de marche and the sticking date wheel.

That missing appetrture wasn't a power reserve, it was to let you know if you are on the first 30 seconds or second 30 seconds since the chrono hand whizzes around the dial in 30 seconds. So instead they decided to use that silly looking chapter ring. So sad.

I'm not really getting how that chapter ring works. But that OK, since the whole thing is just, well...meh.

Significant differences in looks - so what happened to the one in the photo, was it a prototype?

They claimed it was the final and even had videos. It was supposed to be in stores last fall. Evidently they had some "issues."

Here is mine, decided to sell it after one minute on the wrist. Biggest WTF moment of my life!

Image

Shame as I had high expectations! I think I will just stick to Lange, AP, and Patek from here on out in that price range. Hell I could get a higher end Jaeger or Glashutte and save even!

Altair, did you see it in the metal before you got it? Just wondering if you were expecting what Breguet released in pictures and videos?

Sorry, I liked it. I have to admit I spent most of my time in the boutique looking at the seconds subdial, which is the smoothest I have ever seen. I think the box on the prototype may have been easier to read but it really isn't intuitive either.

I prefer the overall look of my XXI, but I thought the seconds subdial was mesmerizing. I thought the 30 second split might take some getting used to, but I could do it.

Asked my AD to order it for me, got the second he got in, AD had no problem with refunding me as there was a long list, I have a feeling many will be reselling this particular piece, it looks so much better in pics, even the one I posted! Very ugly in person. Brquets classical offerings are stunning though!

Wow, that's gross! I'm going to have to swing by the AD and see this for myself.

What a let down. Plenty of Breguets that I would love to add, but the amazing technology of the XXII can't overcome those looks for me.
