I think the Fish has one of the simplest designs that Breitling offers...and they knocked it out of the park!! You will find many fans of the Fish here on BSource.

Hey all. I've found a nice used black dial steelfish that I'm thinking of grabbing, but I cannot decide if the dial is too busy and crowded for my tastes. What do you think?

I see what you mean. There's a lot of number, indices, and writing crammed into a small dial. I tried on the watch several times, after seeing all the beautiful photos posted here on an almost daily basis, but could never warm up to it in person. As someone posted earlier, the Omega PO has a classic "clean" dial.

I will make one admission, and only one, the 24 hours #s as mentioned above aren't necessary. But still, I don't see the dial as busy. Interesting, not busy. I won't knock the stark presence of a Seawolf or P.O., having had both and really enjoyed the simple dials which were simple and stunning. But this watch remains one of my personal favorites across brands and the watch that brought me to Breitling. I wouldn't change a thing about it. On the bracelet or rubber (I have to be careful, Lingman has been here the last couple days) it pops.

Mine may not see quite as much wrist time as the Navi 01, but not far behind.

Even after the price increases, it remains a good value and a silly good value on the secondary market.

I sold mine but only to fund a grail. I owned the blue dial, wore it on bracelet exclusively, and wore it with suits and polos. With a blue suit it was fantastic and didn't look overly complicated or overly sporty. In fact, those big bold arabics made the dial look clean to me, cleaner than it looks in that picture.

No. I own the black dial on PRO 2 and imo, the Steelfish is not only a classic but one of the most beautiful watches ever made by Breitling. :D Next to my SA, it gets a lot of compliments when I wear it.

My ultimate wish is for Breitling to reintroduce the Steelfish in 2012, ALL POLISHED with a BIGGER, THICKER 46mm face. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

True. We don't live in a macro image world.

Funny - that's one of the watch's selling points for me. I'm always reading police reports, which are in 24-hour time, and I'm constantly having to stop and count in my head so I know what time they're talking about. Having a watch dial that shows the relationship of the 24-hour clock to the 12-hour clock would come in quite handy. It's not a big enough deal that I've made it a requirement of whatever watch I buy, but I would consider it a desirable bonus.

I have owned and worn one for the last 2 1/2 years. I have never really noticed the sub 24 hour indecies. IMHO this is one of the least busy dials of the entire lineup.

Congrats on the pickup!

I am sure you are as excited as I was when mine was in the mail. :lingsrock:

It looks to be in perfect shape - chimney and rider tabs flawless.

:huh

A digital display watch might be less busy, then.

Actually, that's one of the features that appealed to me first.

Between this thread and the Steelfish appreciation thread on the Gallery, I couldn't take it anymore. Last week I stumbled on a new black dial SF at a local AD. I kicked the tires a few times and wasted countless hours thinking about it. Finally on Friday I went back and pulled the trigger. I really think it is the perfect combination of dress/tool/diver/sport watch for the money and size, TOO BUSY, NO WAY.

I wear my blue Fish more than any other watch I own. I love my Skyland Avenger but the Fish is realy the most versatile watch that Breitling makes. Love the size, weight and finish. With the brushed finish, you don't have to worry so much about desk diving swirls like you would with a polished watch.
