Which of these three watches do you prefer and why? Left is the new 39mm JLC Master Geographic with multiple time zones, JLC Master Chrono, OR the 42mm IWC Portuguese 5001 with 7 Day Movement?

JLC Master Geographic. I prefer the complications and while I appreciate the classic look and the seven day movement, the IWC almost looks a bit too vintage for me. I am also a little biased temporarily, at least. I have been really wanting a JLC lately and the geographic is one of the first watches I intend to check out in NYC next week.

IWC all the way bud, 39 mm is just too small in my opinion, Plus I already know you want the IWC :nana: :nana:

The Geographic. The Master Control Chrono is a bit bland in person.

Sergio

i would say IWC because you have (2) JLC's already and you sold me your 7 day and its my favorite watch I have owned. Now between the 2 JLC's i would go chronograph, 40mm is a perfect size and its stunning in person. I would say it can be worn dressy and even casual occasions and if i had the funds I would order a black one tomorrow. Either way good luck and I dont think you can go wrong with any.

no doubt for me: Master Geographic, a classic with subtle innovation.

Geographic is a clear stand out for me, even at 39mm.

If you can handle the 39mm diameter then the Geographic is the winner hands down IMO. After that I'd go for the IWC as it's a beautiful looking watch (as you already know!). The only thing that puts me off is the potential for truly awful timekeeping from the 7 day movement...... as I already know! The other JLC is just a bit yawn IMO for what it costs.

This is a tough call for me Sergio as I've been debating the exact same thing for the past year or so. Do I go with the Master Chrono or the Geographic? To be honest I'm not sure. The Chrono is fairly standard but it's a good size for me, the finishing is fantastic and the price is more than reasonable for an in-house movement. The funny thing is I think the same about the geographic. If I had to pick one it would probably be the geographic as the dial presentation and complications are a little different and very cool.

The IWC does come in last though which I know you may not like as you love that watch.

Good luck!

Looking for a white dial to diversify the collection, eh? I would go with the JLC Master Geographic, the complications are more unique than the other two and it looks like the perfect gents watch for formal occasions.
