What AD is going to say:

"Oh the new 2011 models...we're not selling any of them, they just sit in our case untouched, people hate them, they're ugly, a complete 180 from what Breitling is known for"

Of course they won't say that....they're all saying the same thing. "They're selling like hot-cakes" "We can't keep them in stock" "We've sold a lot and we've gotten great feedback on them"

Whatever.

Breitling can weather the storm. Sadly some Breitling dependent ADs will not.

Hmm...odd that a little dust town like Phoenix would get a bunch before the rest. :)

You guys are Basel compared to Portland. Granted, we have Rolex dealers coming out our ears, but are in quite short supply of ADs in a number of other major brands.

I realize you asked FEAR this question, but I though I would add my 2 cents. The SOC II (I presume you are asking about this one) looks pretty good IMOH. I know the rubber bezels are not popular here, but I think the rubber bezel works on this watch. I also like the colored hands. The case wears pretty much like trusty old SOS. Funny thing is the new SO 44 is almost identical to the SOS but wears larger due to the colored bezel. Same goes for the SOC II.

To Sharkman,

I also have not been too impressed with the new stuff. The only one of the lot I would consider is the brushed bezel B01. I'm not a big fan of the Galactic models because of the bezels. I actually like the SO 44. No doubt because it is basically a SOS with a different bezel. I thought I would like the new Transocean, but in the end it just didn't "do it" for me.

Funny thing about the lings I like. I really didn't start following them until 2007/8. There were models then that I didn't like, including the Blackbird, that I now own. I also didn't like the B01 when it first came out, but may buy one in the future (as long as the bezel & bracelet is brushed). Perhaps the biggest draw back for me on not just the new models is the price. I guess the weakening dollar is behind it.

I wonder who all the buyers are?

So what did you think of the Flying Fish? Despite the stupid name, and yes I know where it comes from, that's the only Breitling left that I'd like to own.

I thought the Flying Fish could be a possibility for me. But once I saw it, realized it is nothing more than a brushed Chronomat 01 head on a rubber strap. Breitling is playing a bit fast and looose on the website suggesting slightly different diameters for the two models - they are identical. The chronomat 01 is a couple MMs longer - lug end to lug end - than the Evo or Steelfish, so my wrist size doesn't admit of wearing that watch. Or the FF. I will admit sitting next to all those polished Chronomat 01s and Galctics it looked ok.

I didn't really see the attraction of the Flying Fish when it was first announced, and having tried it on I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment Sharkman, it's very ho hum (to me).

In terms of mfserge's comments about sponsor ADs, that's inevitable when we have sponsors (and active posters from those sponsors) and sponsors are necessary to assist admin with his costs. I personally try to avoid mentioning unless asked for referrals and then try to mention both in each of the two major markets covered. It's just something that I think we have to accept as the site (and accompanying costs) grow.

The only new watch that I saw in my last visit to my AD was the Superocean GMT and it was ugly. There's no denying that. I have a Navi 1461 right now and I'll admit it looks great. I'm normally not a Navi fan, but I do like how this one looks on the croc strap.

I'm not saying that it was the greatest thing since sliced bread but out of the new offerings it was the only one that stood out as being a nice watch without the retarded elements of the rest of the 2011 lineup.

I'm all for selling advertising and for selling forum sponsorships to generate revenue so we can all enjoy this site at no charge. My issue is with the public and private solication for sales, it's bit troublesome to me.

Now back to the topic... I also liked the flying fish a lot in photos. I recently saw one at a local AD and I was bored with it, kinda blah. I also saw the new Olympus and hated it, the dial is too big that it made the subdials look too small...and I really really wanted to like it. The subdials on the world felt larger.

This is a very good point, shark. Plenty of people on this site posting pics of their latest and greatest, but hardly any of them seem to be the 2011 Breitlings. Either the new models aren't selling much, or they're selling to people who aren't members here.

Personally, there's not much calling to me from the new models, with the notable exception of the Navi 01 and the Navi 1461, love them both. They could have had me with the SO44 but didn't quite get it right for my tastes.

I LOVE it. It's great and the brushed bracelet is sweet. Real homerun IMHO
