I was thinking about picking up a Steinhart Nav. B-Chrono ( http://www.steinhartwatches.de/index.ph ... &Sel_ID=27 ) and don't know anything about them.

I live in the USA and don't see a US dealer on their webpage. Is the Steinhart webpage the best place for me to buy or is grey market not much of a factor with this brand?

TIA,
Mike

Steinhart watches are fairly inexpensive and you get quite a bit for the money. Gunter tries to furnish a nice end product and your best bet would likely be ordering staight from them. I have one of thier watches (a LE we designed and had built for the forum) and its a nice watch, al biet not in the same caliber as most other Swiss makers (but not priced high either!), so it is what it is. I think they are close to the best bang for the buck, in a sudo Swiss made watch. Next would be Oris, but Oris is higher quality and higher priced.

To echo Bronco's statement, you get what you pay for to a certain extent, so don't expect anything like Breitling's standard, but in many cases Steinharts are a 1/10th of the cost of a Breitling...... but they are way better than a 1/10th of the quality.

IMO you get a heck of a lot for your money with Steinhart - they are all Swiss made (despite having a German head office) and utlising genuine ETA movements, plus you get the personal touch when dealing with them as Gunter Steinhart, the owner, usual corresponds with buyers directly. Try that with Breitling or Rolex!

Steinharts are great watches for the money! And I have allot of experience dealing with them, they are a honest buissnes and the folks who work there are down to earth and very passionate, though they do get overwhelmed sometimes. Every Steinhart is a great value and you should not hesitate, that said, the 47MM Pilots are HUGE! They bigger than other 47mm watches so I would also consider the 44mm versions. I have a 8 inch wrist and find them a bit too big even for me!
