That is such an amazing *ucking watch man! That is definitely my next!....just not in Platinum though :D

Hopefully they start keep some good time by the time I can afford it though

Why is that btw? Why is there time issues with the Big Pilot?

I want to say that it's as a result of primarily two reasons - a slow beat (21,600) and a huge mainspring. The slow beat makes it harder to regulate, and the huge mainspring can causes isochronism issues as the torque in the spring decreases considerably as it unwinds (as indeed it does in all watches, but it's more pronounced in a watch with a huge mainspring).

That said, there are plenty of other watches out there with huge power reserves that can keep good time. So as much as I want to say those two reasons are the cause, I actually think the movement is just a bit of a crap design. (Kind of sad that I own one really).

They did come out with a transitional movement in the watch that has a frequency of 28,800 beats per minute. I might be mistaken but I'm pretty sure about that.

No, the transitional model was also 21,600. There's never been a 28,800 Big Pilot. The early model Big Pilot (the 5002) used an 18,000 beat movement. That model was replaced with the current version (the 5004) which houses the 21,600 beat version. However, a few of the older model pieces were made with the 21,600 movement as the transition from one model to the next - hence Transitional.
