Hello from a new member in Indianapolis. I bought a Cosmonate with a 24 hour dial in the mid 60s. I was a young lawyer just learning to fly airplanes, and had to have it, even though it cost half a months salary then. Never been sorry, I'm still impressed by it.

I only wear it occasionally, three or four times a year, and just noticed it hangs up when using the stop watch function. If I bang it lightly on the heel of my hand it frees up and might run for an hour before stopping again. Any idea what the problem might be? Best place to get it repaired?

I have to say that seeing what these watches are selling for, new and old, it might be the best investment I've made in the last 40 years! :) Thanks for all the good information in this forum, I'm really enjoying learning more than I ever knew about these watches.

Regards,
Dave

Welcome to BreitlingSource.

Sounds like the watch just needs servicing (has it been serviced in the last 40 years - and please say yes). PM chronodeco and he can help you out.

I hate to admit it, but only once in 45 years -- 30 years ago. I'll definitely contact chronodeco. Thanks.

Thanks, Sharkmouth. BTW, I'm sending the watch to Chronodeco today. :D

Only bad part is he is 4 or 5 weeks backloaded . . . . after 30 years of neglect, I should worry about 4 or 5 weeks!? :?

Roffensian, you are absolutely right. Got the watch back and it looks perfect. Craig tore it all apart, replaced the main spring, crystal, and cleaned and lubed.

I set it about 36 hours ago to official US time. Just checked and It has gained about one second. What is that, 15 or 20 seconds a month? Oh, well, I told Craig that nobody is perfect . . . :D

Highly recommended! Thank's for the advise I got here.

Glad that you're pleased, and I think that time keeping is acceptable!
