Not good.

The proportions of the watch are terrible. It is too thik for its diameter.

:yeahthat If this case is the same as the original CSO (which it probably is), I agree. I love the CSO but the out of proportion thick case was a show stopper for me. Otherwise I don't mind this new dial layout, bezel is not that big of an issue for me, and the yellow accents are OK... red might be better :) .

Just wait, I'm sure the rest of the rainbow will be making an appearance soon.

What a disaster Breitling is turning into! This watch is absolutely disgusting. Im finally ready to admit that Martini was right, Breitling isnt a luxury watch brand. They're making overpriced toy watches now.

Spit and sealing wax. Spit and sealing wax. Why don't they just call it what it is - code yellow superocean chrono II yellow abyss?

The rubber bezel clearly is becoming the replacement for the traditional Aeromarine SS/rider tab bezel, little by little. Why?

As to the current CSO, my ADs indicate it is a good seller. Not as much as the Steelfish for sure, but a good seller. What they tell me they continue to have trouble selling are the SOIIs. Everytime I stop by, the same 2 or 3 SOIIs are just sitting there - for months.

Spit and sealing wax.

Ok., then, let's get down to work:
I have the CSO, blue dial, on ProII. bracelet. I love the watch, with a few exceptions:
- most disturbing: silver subdials and white calender windows make visibility horrible at twilight. a Blackeye-blue dial would have been fantastic.
- case height (w/over 17 mm!) is too much for 42 mm.
- rider tabs are pullover-killers.
Most desirable features for me:
- Valjoux 7750 with day-date feature!
- generally good lume on dial, hands and bezel
- good waterresistance w/screw-down pushers
- playing my color code: blue-black-grey-white-silver
My other favourite brand is IWC. At the beginning of this January I have bought the brand new Aquatimer Chrono Cousteau Edition ref. 376706 with an additional steel bracelet. The calender discs will be replaced by black ones. Diameter is 43.5 w/bezel 45.5, but steep lugs and 15.4 mm height allow a very comfy wear for my 6.75" wrist. Ardoise dial is beautiful with the blue sub-dials and lume is fantastic, that of the bezel too. No screw-down pushers but pushers usable underwater. (I don't use them around water but it is good to be on the safe side, with either screw-down or underwater usable pushers.) I've been eye-balling with the "street version" since 2009 but the silver sub-dials and orange hands always made me draw back. This year at the SIHH there were the new dial versions of the AT Chrono, and one with all-blue dial. So, after learning how the new CSO looks, mainly without any weekday feature and lume on the bezel, I decided to buy the blue AT Chrono instead of the new CSO (and will need the calender discs replacement only) - in spite I really was expecting this new CSO piece come home with me.
Dear Breitling HQ / Grenchen! Please give back the weekday window to the new CSO and allow a new bezel: sapphire, like the Blancpain FF and the IWC AT line, or ceramic, like the Rolex Sports and others, with a lume dot at least at 0 minutes! Or, even better, let us have a day-date Chronomat B01 in not more than 44 mm case and blackeye-blue dial!

Best, Robert

I like the dial A LOT. I think it has nice depth, reminiscent of the Chronomat Longitude--imo one of the nicer dials that Breitling have ever made. Im split on the rubber bezel in this application though. I think with a B01 bezel this thing would be killer.

This watch has definitley lost all of the versatility its predecessor has. I would not feel comfortable wearing this with a suit... maybe I'm in the minority here.

Perhaps it is just me, but I feel like Breitling is turning into the General Motors of the watch world. General Motors had a habit of taking the same engine and chassis and putting a slightly different body on the car to try to fool more consumers that this car was somehow "different" and in my opinion, Breitling is turning out to be the same. Many recent models seem to just be the same watch/model with a different chassis - and I've noticed this trend especially over the last 2-3 years. It's becoming stale and uninspired and it's a shame that Breitling thinks that a splash of color on an already existing watch, with a slightly different bezel is going to fool anyone.

I've said this before, but I have a love/hate relationship with Breitling. I love the history and accomplishments behind the brand, but relative to other luxury watch makers, it's really let me down over the last 3 years with gimicky products that just have a splash of color.

Don't get mad Sergio -- This watch kinda looks like the JLC under your name. :poke: At least from far away.

This watch was one of the reasons I bought my CSO when I did. Given that the current (soon to be former) model has been around since 2003, and given that the SO had been revamped into the SOII, I figured it wouldn't be long before the CSO followed suit. And the results were just as I'd feared. I don't like dragging Breitling's name through the mud, but so many of their new releases are telling me that the brand I hold in such high esteem is increasingly a relic of the past; the current direction is disheartening. A nice Navi 01 and an OK Transworld just aren't enough to make up for so many transgressions in style. What a shame. If this keeps up, the only place to get a great Breitling is going to be the aftermarket.

Look at it in a positive way: you can choose the color of the seconds hand, the frame of the calendar aperture and the signature of the model: red, white, yellow, blue or orange.

I like it all but the rubber bezel. I think the color on the subs/second hand/SO script all go well together. I'd consider it at 44 but probably pass at 42.
