Yeah, it's pretty cool. If you notice the cams that are held in place by the screws at the bottom of the dial are not round so they cause the hands to deflect up and down the scale (the cams each rotate once per year). To be perfectly correct the watch needs to be 'programmed' for your exact latitude, but this one should be close enough for now after I have set it and then I believe that it can be refined during servicing.

Ahhhhhhhh, I see. The left "scale" displays the time that the sun will rise, right scale displays the time the sun will set. That's really cool. Seriously, the fact that you can make a watch that will track stuff like this blows my mind.

Are you planning on doing a full review when it arrives Roff?
I'd certainly be very interested in reading it, I'm sure others would too.
Congrats on a fantastic purchase by the way!

I will. I've handled a few Martin Brauns, but this is the first one that I will own so will provide my overall impressions along with my always awful photos.

Hmmm ,I dunno.... Roff's pictures are mostly awful! :poke:

(And before any comments come about the quality of my FANTASTIC pictures, I feel I should pre-emptively defend myself by saying that I don't own a proper camera and have to make do with whatever my mobile phone can produce!)

The words pot and kettle do spring to mind, but I'll take your word for it that it's just bad tools........

I will endeavour to take some decent shots, although natural lighting isn't great at this time of year. Mind you, with PayPal doing it's best to ruin my life at the moment it may be June before the watch arrives :guns:

Really interesting piece Roff. I read through this a little while ago but just didn't have time to comment before. It's certainly got unique complications implemented in very novel ways.

I actually love the fact that it has "eyes". The watch face emotes - really awesome. It gives the piece a LOT of personality despite the case design and size being a bit on the conservative side. I'd certainly say it would be worth getting it "calibrated" to your latitiude - if it has the ability to keep track, make sure it's accurate!

Well I am now officially gutted.

After various Paypal issues the payment finally cleared today and I heard from the seller that when he checked the watch prior to shipping it is broken (it's brand new). The month display is non functional and accuracy is off by 2 hours per day. The watch needs to go to Switzerland for servicing / repairs which could take months.

I'm therefore getting my money back and a Martin Braun will not be joining my collection.

I guess the good news is that I can be back in the market for another watch.

I'm really frustrated by this because I was looking forward to such a unique combination of complications, but I guess that everything happens for a reason.
