Wow! That is an exceptionally beautiful watch, and you clearly have exquisite taste my friend. I think Breitling have absolutely hit the spot with this watch and it will become a classic in years to come. I have an SOHC on mesh which so far I put second only to my all time favorite - the silver-dialled, steel "Long Playing" 815. The Transocean to me, trumps the SOHC and is a hairs-breadth away from supplanting the 815 as my favorite Breitling - if only the LE silver dial had black subs it would take the top spot  . I notice the TO gets a lot of hate on the forums - it's definitely a "marmite" (love it or hate it) watch - funny how we can see things differently!. Its a refreshing and classy alternative to so many hideously fussy, contrived dogs-breakfast designs that Breitling have brought out over the past few years, and I hope to own one one day.

Amazing watch! Congrats on a great pick up! Definitely my next Breitling and my favorite Breitling yet! I wish it was 1-2 MM larger but 43 is acceptable, the design is fantastic!

I have absolutely fallen head over heals in love with this watch.

I continue to be amazed by the dial color. I just deleted about 20 pics more iphone pics (that "camera" really does suck) because none of them came close to doing any justice. It definitely looks more silver in sunlight, but it still retains this wonderful hint of a "warmer tone." And light literally dances on the face as it reflects off the hands and the angled edges of the batons.

The hour and minute hands have highly polished outside edges, with a thin strip in the middle that matches the dial. As you work your way closer to the tips, there is a portion of the middle with lume, then the very tips again match the dial. Adds a lot of character to them, and helps add to that "warm" feeling. The chrono seconds hand is highly polished end to end and is very slender. So much so that it takes my eyes a moment to find it. Oddly enough, once my eyes find it, it is extremely easy to read the time to the fraction of a second. I find that nearly impossible to do with my Navi World.

It's extremely comfortable on the wrist, despite my wrist's first experience with a Breitling STRAP ( ) and deployant. I know, I know, give it a chance to break in and it will be worthwhile.

It's nicely sized. I wasn't expecting it to be as thick as it is, which was a pleasant surprise. Similar proportions to my Portuguese, but feels more substantial on the wrist (the croc strap may be adding to that feeling). The watch is certainly not as heavy as of the World, but it still feels like it has substance on my wrist. It's definitely still a Breitling. :lingsrock:

Still, there is something elegant about this watch that I haven't seen other Breitlings. I don't think I would feel the same about the black dial. I think the black dial will have a more "sporty" feel to it. My original intention was to also order a mesh bracelet, but I really don't think it would work as well as the brown croc. I think the mesh is better suited for the black face. The brown strap really pics up on the tones of this dial.

As for Breitling quality control, so far so good. I've had the chrono function running for 13 hours without any issues. Thanks to Stefan Tapp, I spent a CONSIDERABLE amount of time closely inspecting the dial, hands and case looking for any imperfections. I am happy to report that so far, #674/2000 has proven to be a fine example of Breitling craftmanship.

Apologies again for the quality of the pics. I will make an effort this weekend with a real camera, although it may just be easier to fly Ron, Frank or Davey into Boston for the weekend for a photoshoot.

Cheers - Keith

PS - I almost forgot, the backside doesn't look too shabby either. :D

That's a really very nice piece. Just don't tell it to mfserge

I first fell in love with it when I saw it in metal about a month go at my AD's.

And it looks much better on strap IMO.

Enjoy it.

I'm hoping that Serge will reserve judgment until I post better pics or he sees it in the metal.

I think he'll end up a convert. :D

Let's hope so because he was not very positive about it: http://www.breitlingsource.com/phpBB2/v ... =1&t=23641

Which is a pity because IMO the Transocean is really great. Then again, we can't all agree, can we? It would be boring.

What an nice dressier alternative to the Navitimer. I have to have it!!!

Regarding the black dial version.....It is certaily a great looking peice, but to me the black dial/white subdial is more of a Navi thing.

I really like the softness of the all silver dial. All in all...I think this has to be considered one of breitling's best

Congrats on picking it up and I'm glad that you're enjoying it. I like the color of the dial, I like the shape of the case, and it looks great with the brown croc. It's a simple clean look but the tachymeter is what really bugs me....I think that's why I'm not a fan.... but I do like that Breitling has made a dressier watch which is very clean looking. Enjoy it.

Take the tachymeter off of the dial and it would be close to perfect. The tachymeter makes me thing of a Seamaster when I see it which it was is why I was so harsh on my earlier comments on it.

While I do love this watch I also agree about the tach on it. I'm not a fan if it, but I don't think it would sway me away from the TO.

Got the call today from my AD, and couldn't rush over fast enough. Apologies ahead of time for the terrible iPhone pics - they truly do this dial no justice.

I was immediately blown away by the dial color. "Mercury Silver" apparently has a soft, warm, bronze-ish or gold-ish hue to it that works fantastically with the brown croc.

As for size, it looks to me like it wears similar my IWC Portuguese, but definitely feels heavier.

Again, apologies for the quick pics and I will certainly try to get better ones with a real camera. Along with a more thought out review, once I've has some time to let this one sink in.

In the end, the Rolex rep that was at the AD when I picked this up summed it up best - "WOW. That is beautiful." :D

Hey how's your TO working for ya? I'm patiently waiting for mine with the same configuration as yours! As I wait, I just keep looking at your pictures!
