Hi everyone,

im a totally newbie here, so hope dont mind if i ask something? i need some guidance from pros here, which is you...

im from singapore anyway.

im going to get a pre-owned chrono avenger Ti, from a well known pre-owned shop here. The owner of the shop mentioned to me it was serviced (and i believed, is by them, because they providing service as well, but i didn't ask when they did it) and the set come with it box and papers.

so the question is, is it worth to get it? i scared few months down the road, everything start to fall apart? and knowing service cost by breitling sc is tons of cost.

and the price that im paying, i can almost get a new superocean steelfish from local AD here after discount, i need to top up $200usd, around there, of course.

i like avenger series, but i cant afford to get the newer version, and its too big for my 6.4"wrist too. Thats why i look around in secondary market, and i managed to located one and feel like pulling the trigger.

so is the price good enough? is it save to get one?

and its been discontinued long ago? which makes me worried, how if Breitling SC don't have the parts? like crown or hands if need to be replaced.

help me with all your thought please, this will be my first swiss watch that i will keep. (owned a B&R before and regretted i sold it away), but breitling is my dream watch since i was 17 years old, keep telling myself a must have watch.

hope i can find a good reason to get it, or else, my next choice will be only Seiko Prospex, MarineMaster 300m (more affordable, but not as cool as avenger!!)

thanks guys,

AB

Can't comment on price because, 1) I never do and 2) you didn't tell us what you are paying. Price is covered in the FAQs, #2 here - http://www.breitlingsource.com/articles_faq.shtml#8

In terms of service, if the store that you are buying from is not an authorised Breitling service centre then you have potential problems - they won't have access to Breitling parts and that could lead to more expensive servicing down the road. It will also mean that they reused the hands (which are designed to be single use) so they won't fit so well.

Breitling will continue to have access to these parts for a long time, so that's not really a concern.

i will be paying around 2300 i guess. after conversion. but considering come with all necessary items like papers and box. im alright with that and also been discontinue for quite sometimes, if i get from ebay and shipped it to Singapore...more or less will be the same, but buy locally from a trustworthy 2nd hand dealer, atleast i have an ease mind.

and buying it from shop, i guess they need to make profit? its different price if i buy from collector.

wondering if i send it to those service center, 3rd party so called like that, since it is only 7750 base movement, can they able to do some maintenance? im not saying overhaul movt here, i rather breitling doing it.

i will check with breitling sc here in singapore and see what they will say then. i really hoping they wont run out of parts.

and 1 more thing.

the bracelet of my CA, stated 0901, weeks 9 of 2001? i thought CA was released in year 2003?

thanks a lot

Chrono Avenger has been around since 2001, so no issues there.

You pay a premium for a Breitling with a modified ETA movement, not sure why you would devalue the watch by having generic parts used in servicing. Additionally, the hands are designed to be single use and yet if you go non Breitling servicing the hands will have to be reused as non authorised centres don't have access to Breitling parts.

Finally, if the watch does go to Breitling in the future they will charge extra to undo the unauthorised work.

How much difference is there in size between the current avenger vs the titanium avenger? I know the older titanium avenger was 44 and the current is 45.4, but is there a noticable difference between the two?

hello. I believe to have a full service with the service centre will cost ard 700 plus sgd without changing anything parts. That is what they quote me for my Navi world.
I used to own one but sell it at around 2.7Ksgd as it is a 6 years watch I believe Breitling cost cheaper in US compare to Singapore as I bought a airwolf raven afew month back and did some comparsion. Difference is as much as 1k depending on the range and model. Btw, do you mind sharing which preowned shop you are refering to? How much discount you are getting from the AD. I got mine airwolf raven with an discount of 30%. If you are interested, PM me. oh,one more thing, I'm from Singapore too. :lingsrock:
