Finally, some decent pics of the new super Offshores! I have to say they look even better than I had imagines based on the publicity pictures!

Image

The new models are 2 mm larger than the standard Offshores, and are 1.5 mm thicker. My Safari wear about the same as my 46mm watches such as my IWC BP, so I can only imagine that these will wear closer to 47-48 mm watches as the Fiddy or my 323. Fantastic news for Gorilla wrists everywhere!

I think they all look great, but the red on the rose gold is out of place for my tastes. It kinda works on the SS version, and is superb on the Forged Carbon (my pick of the litter) and the ceramic bezel, push buttons, and crown are fantastic as well! Take a look at the extreme lines of the case coupled with the excellent finishing! Truely something to behold!

If you dont like the Offshore styling in the first place this is not for you, but for the rest of us this is exactly what the doctor ordered!

Also, the display back was a great decision! Sure the watch is no longer as resistant to magnetic interference, but now we get to see the finishing on the amazing Ap in house caliber!

What I love about the Forged Carbon is that it is a truly unique material, and AP has done the "All Black" look with titanium parts and red accents to add visual interest. Even the black parts are not uniformally black, as the case is FC and the bezel and other parts are a different shinier shade (ceramic). The whole piece looks like a concept watch, but can be had for a relatively moderate amount! And is a regular production.

Bravo AP, couldn't be happier! Prices are not insane either. I had wished that the Forged Carbon have a street price of 20-25K in my earlier post, and my wish has come true! (assuming a 20-25% discount)

Here are the prices:

$28,100 SS

$31,000 Forged Carbon

$52,100 RG

The forged carbon version is superb. It really drags a '70's design kicking and screaming into the 21st century. Not that there is anything wrong with the likes of the Safari ROO anyway, but this really modernises the look in a fantastic way.

Price is....... well, not bad for AP, but still way too much for me.

Stunning timepieces. Thanks for the info Ahmed.

Irrelevant for me though because, although I agree with you and Mr Driver about the prices being OK for what you're getting, they are way outside my comfort zone at the minute.

They all look great but the Forged Carbon one is beautiful. Too bad I'll never be able to drop that kind of money on a watch.

There's plenty of life in the ROO design yet!

I agree D8, these are the most modern-looking versions I've seen.

I have heard the full service for a Roo is 3k to 3500, that in itself boggles my mind!!!

That figure is severely exaggerative. The suggested retail price for a full service is about 1080 which includes re polishing and finishing. in case of damage or case compromising a full refurbishing might cost an extra 210-260, and these prices are usually discounted heavely, and only corespond when the AD sends the watches to the factory. A local service is around 600 all inclusive.

I did some digging and came up with the suggested retail prices from the AP website

AP is a nice line, but way too rich for my blood too. Even with the 20-25% discount these things are way over my comfort zone, but I would love to own one. Maybe some day I can pick up a pre-loved version at a reasonable price....but I highly doubt it.

The whole Offshore line is beautiful in my opinion. If I could own just one watch it would be a ROO

If thats the case , a Roo may be in my future in the next year or so. I have seen quite a few Roo's for 10 to 13k on the BAY ,and on TRF . I love preloved models being a couple years old. The maint on them always scared me away buying one.

+1

I've been wanting a Navy for ages but the supposed costs associated with servicing made me think twice.

There was an AP ROO posted on timezone for sale and the buyer stated it just came back from a $3300 service with AP.
