Hi
Does Breitling still stamp the case with manufacture dates, specificaly on a avenger seawolf chrono?
Same question for the steel profesional strap?
I picked one up in the store and looked for it and could not see it.
Thanks

Its in between the lugs in week / year format
ie 2510 would be the 25th week of 2010.

Are you sure they still do this stamping?
I read the artical about the stamp placement and how to read it ( week-year ) etc, I'm buying my first watch and thought this may indicate a fake if not stamped,
so it is important to know if indeed it is still practiced, and on this model.
Thanks

The stamp should be between the 6:00 lugs and is almost impossible to see without removing the strap/bracelet. However I haven't handled a new watch lately and I am not absolutely certain they are still being stamped but I would think so. I can't imagine they're not.

Was the store you saw it an AD?

Edit: Remember a date stamp doesn't necessarily prove authenticity. A lot of replicas have stamps as well.

Elwyn

Yes, it was an AD in my area. It was their only one, (display model) so I looked carefully, but I didn't remove the steel strap.

They still do it and you won't see it with the strap / bracelet on.

Thanks everyone
I will now search out strap removal. I'm quite sure i'll buy this watch, and post a picture when I do.
Like other first timers have said, i'm very excited and nervous about the hole thing.
Hey Roffensian, i'm in the Mississauga area, and my AD was La Swiss at Square One, are they reputable?

I'm curious why you're so worried it's fake. If it's new and sold by an AD, that's a virtual guarantee of authenticity. If it's a pre-owned, then there may be a slightly better chance someone slipped the dealer a bad one, but not very; usually a good dealer can spot a fake, especially if they're going to be selling and putting their reputation behind it. Also, as mentioned, the presence of a date code will not verify authenticity; only the lack of one will. But any fake that doesn't have a date code will probably be a lower quality fake, and likely could be spotted by other means. So I don't know what you're to gain by going to the trouble of asking the dealer to remove the strap/bracelet. Besides, if you're so worried the dealer doesn't know what's what, are you sure that's a dealer you want to be doing business with?

They're OK, I prefer a different La Swiss.

I didn't take off the strap on my Navitimer 01 but can see all the way through. It does not look like the date is stamped there. I was going to ask about that before I saw this thread.

Do any other Navitimer 01 owners agree?

Sometimes it's very difficult to see without removing the strap; sometimes it's tough even then.

Yeah, I just took off the strap. It's there. It's much smaller and more lightly engraved than my Bentley. Does anyone know what the B4 stands for at the end of the number? It's engraved 4010B4. I know it's the 40th week of 2010 but I'm not sure about he B4.

Every time this has been asked the stock answer has always been that it's the dial colour, but recently there seem to be some inconsistencies in the way that Breitling uses it.
