Looks great bud!!!! I am torn between 111,112,005, The who manual winding thing just puts me off buying one. How does 111 wear in size to the DSSD? I have the DSSD ,and was curious how it matches up size wise?

Lei, Grats to ya sir on the nice PAM 111 pick up!!! I'm hoping to add a Panerai to my collection one day, something in the way of the sandwich dial w/auto winder (IE 312, 320, or 359).

My 320 wears smaller than a DSSD. The DSSD was so thick that it sat very oddly on my wrist and just didnt feel right. Side by side with my Skyland, I find the PAM to wear very similarly. Lug to lug length is almost identical, and diameter and thickness are very, very close.

Congrats on your first Panerai, I never thought i'd own one either and I just bought my second one last week :!: They sure are unique and fun to wear. Enjoy your new pam and the quest for #2.

I bought my 359 about 6 months ago and am even more smitten with the brand now that I own one.

I know another PAM is in my future....I don't think I'll have a huge collection of them - but it's probably the only brand that I can see having more than 1 in my collection.

Congrats on the purchase :)

I really like the 320,321,359 ,and all have the in house movement. I just cant see spending 7k on one them because they are pretty plain ,and all look pretty similar. The 386 on another hand is absolutely stunning , and will probably make me dump my DSSD for it. The 386 is one helluva stunner.

Definitely wears smaller. Don't let the manual movement push you away! It's a pleasure to wind.

Love it! Congrats! Don't look at another until you've get at least 15 straps for this one. You'll be surprised that you might change your "next" Pam based on it's fit on your fav STRAP... :D

No, they're totally different. The two big differences is that the 312 has an in house auto movement and a 1950's style case. Some 111's have a painted dial and some have a sandwhich dial depending on the series...I believe the newer series have sandwhich dials which the 312 also has.

thanks serge. im such a noob to this brand its hard for me to notice the subtle differences. i guess the fact that the cases of the 111 and 312 look the same to me is not a shock to anyone

Just a few months ago I thought all Panerai's looked the same and it would be stupid to own more than one. :huh But now I get it and can see the differences in the models. It's hard to tell in photos but the case of the 111 and 312 are shaped very differently.

Not a shock. They are almost the same.
Check out this link for a side by side of the 1950 case and the regular one:
http://www.wristwatchphoto.com/2009/05/ ... -case.html

From what I gather, the 1950 case is usually only used on the more expensive models that are in-house or have multiple complications. Im sure there are exceptions, but this seems to be the case.
