Hi there,

Mabe stupid to ask but i couldn't find something about this in the search option.

Today i tried for the first time ever to wind my Breitling Superocean chronograph (Valjoux 7750 based mov.) manually. When i pulled out the crown to position 1 and turn the crown clockwise the whole rotor was spinning, is this normal?

Manual winding of my former Steelfish (with 2824-2 mov.) didn't spin the rotor at all.

It happens sometimes, still trying to figure out exactly why. It's not a problem and will likely stop in a couple of days.

It may be you are jerking the watch laterally. The SOC with the modified 7750 only winds clockwise. When you move it and hear the rotor spinning, it is merely freewheeling in the counterclockwise (non-winding direction. The Steelfish winds in both directions, so the rotor never freewheels (spins) with movement of the watch.

No, I know what he means and have experienced it myself with 7750 based and 2824 based movements. When you manually wind the crown the motion through the keyless works drives the rotor.

Interesting, while I've had some indication of the rotor moving, never felt it actually spinnning while winding.

The rotor starts spinning (and spins really fast, even faster than possible on bodymovement) when i start turn the crown clockwise untill i'll stop turning the crown.

I've an old Swatch skeleton (earth summit '92) using an eta 2840 and i noticed the same "feature" .

Just asked my friend with his Hamilton X-copter (7750 based as well) to turn his crown and that one wind manually without turning the rotor.
