I packaged up my 1964 Rolex Submariner for it's new owner last night. :cry:

I've never felt this sad about moving a watch on before. What a massive shame I caould never get it to fit me.

I'm made slightly happier in the knowledge that the new owner appreciates exactly what he is getting and will take good care of it.

In all seriousness, I am quite philosophical about the sale. I thought about it long and hard. But last night packing it away was more difficult than I had imagined.

Unfortunately, he is not a member here so I'll post a picture of it for probably the last time.

Is that a tear drop I see on the crystal?...Oh wait no my monitor has a spot on it..never mind. :poke: How long have you had that piece ricardo?

That sucks dude, I'd love a vintage Sub and that is a great looking one. Hmmm.... I just found something to search the internet for tonight. What year was that one? Sorry, I'm too lazy to look for your for sale thread, nevermind. I'll look.

That was a masterpiece.

We all make mistakes, sorry it had to go, you must be devastated.

Due to your review and the above photo i'm visiting the AD today and seriously thinking of buying the new submariner.

. Ya its a pity you had to let it go. That been said watches can be expensive so its best to be 100% happy with what you have. Now at least you can think about getting it replaced. . . Good luck in you quest. . :lingsrock:

Sad that you had to let go of such a well-cared for watch (it really is the best quality vintage I've seen in a while), but I have no doubt you'll be happier with something more comfortable that doesn't have any little niggles.

The Submariner is one of the few Rolex models I actually like, so be sure to post some shots if you do replace it with an up to date model! From what I've read on here, the new bracelets are an enormous improvement on any of the old ones, so I'm sure you'll definitely like a newer one even better! :)

I tried and tried to get on with it for 6 months.

It was the most difficult watch selling decision I have ever had to make.

I may look for a GMT Master in the near future. I don't think my Vintage Rolex buying days are over. I've loved owning and looking at this vintage Submariner, but not wearing it.

Actually Mr Fear, the bracelet is adjustable. It has a few pairs of holes in the clasp for the spring bar. Unfortunately, the links could not be removed and, even with the bracelet at its tightest it was way too big for me.

A warning for all those with 6.5" wrists contemplating a vintage piece.
