I have slightly larger wrists than that and wear watches that are 50mm plus, and watches that are under 40mm. I also have a Cockpit. I don't think that they look silly at all, but then I never did get this whole 'too big' or 'too small' thing. To me, if I like the way that a watch looks then I'll wear it, I don't care about size as long as the lugs don't hang over the sides!

I have a 7.5" and I love my Cockpit . I do feel though that when I look down at my wrist it can appear to be a bit on the small side after I have been wearing my Steelfish or Chronomat , but if you look at your reflection in a mirror and see the watch as someone else would , the size is perfect . My partner says my Cockpit is the watch she likes most on me . There was a time when I wanted a Dateless Sub but I didn't buy it because I realized I could never wear it in preference to the Cockpit . Before any of you Rolex lovers feel the need to respond , I'm not criticising , just giving my personal opinion .

Like Roff says, just wear what you like because you like the watch, not whether it is big or small.
I don't really get the size thing much, either. I have two watches at the moment: a 36mm Rolex Explorer, and a 45.4mm Breitling Seawolf. I think that they both look great on my wrist. The Seawolf is new, and I have worn it for 5 days now, where I would normally have worn the Explorer. I am not going to get rid of the Explorer, though, to go to all bigger watch sizes. The Explorer happens to be my favourite all time watch, although it's smaller. The Seawolf is still new, and I love it. Yes, partly because of the size, but it also has a yellow dial and some of the finest detailing on the dial I have ever seen. It is every bit as comfortable as the Explorer, in spite of it's weight and size.
At some point, I may also get a Rolex Sub No Date, because I love the watch. It is 40 mm, almost exactly in between the sizes of my two present watches.
As it is, I have had more compliments on my Explorer than on any other watches I have owned. It is the smallest watch I have owned, and I have an average 7.25in wrist size.
Just wear what you feel comfortable with and don't feel that you have to justify it. Most of all, if you don't worry about what others think, you will have a lot more fun with the watches!
Cheers,
Carl
