I'm going to view a used Super Avenger on Wednesday, albeit only 7-8 months old.

Is there anything I should look out for or pay particular attention to other than the usual making sure that all documents and serial number are sound?

-check for the b in the bezel (57 sec marker)

-check the dial for any imperfections as for scratches of the ar coating in the glass

-check the quick date at the position 2 of the crown change to see if the date wheel isnt broken

-run the start stop and reset to check if all run and reset ok

-rotate the bezel to see if it runs ok (mine is broken, didnt checked when bought it)

-not very important but if possible check the manufacture date between the lugs at 6

good luck whit the business :) :D

be sure to show us some pictures after

I guess your concerns will be guided by where you're buying it from to an extent. I bought a used Steelfish from eBay just over a year ago and luckily it's all ok, but I wasn't nearly as thorough as I should have been.

Real/fake
As I understand it, even the papers can be faked, so they are no guarantee.

If you have any decent pictures of the dial and back of the watch, you could do a lot worse than upload a few pictures to the replica section of the forum. Some of the eagle eyes here can then check it out in advance, so that when you see it for yourself you have a bit more peace of mind.

Function/condition of the watch
You could also pop into an AD and check a new one out yourself first: get a feel for how the bezel and crown should rotate and how the pushers respond in your hand.

EDIT: Another thought - and something I've now done myself - it is worth getting hold of the serial number and ringing Breitling to check that the watch hasn't been reported as stolen. If it has, they will certainly not service it for you in the future, and I doubt you'd get it back if you sent it in to them. They will also be able to tell you if the watch has been serviced by them at any point and, if so, what the problems were, if any. (Again, whether you feel this is worth doing depends to an extent on where you are buying the watch.)

The small script "B" is not on the flat surface of the bezel where the numbers are, but on the outside edge, perpendicular to flat top of the bezel, at about the 57 mark. Also, t his is no way to tell a fake, as all of the decent fakes also have this "B" on them.
